Are You A Narsissist?

Ever gone into a department store or beauty shop and felt so intimated by the super glam girls on the desks, the over priced and crazy ranges of make up? Same! Even as a beauty blogger, I often find it so hard to get the products I want or any help at all from beauty desks and end up rushing off, embarrassed, and either trying to buy online or not bothering at all. So, when I was invited by Fenwicks to visit their brand new Nars counter for a make over, I was a mess with worry.

I can confirm that, (and if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll have seen my Stories all about my morning with Nars last Sunday;) that’s not how Nars works.
If you want pure pamper, luxury and to be treated like spending your hard earned cash is worth every last penny, then Nars is the spot for you!

Beauty and make up for so many is something we end up doing by default. While I am not a crazy flamboyant Make Up addict, I do tend to wear my mask on a daily basis. My application has become samey and boring and I have forgotten how to add any excitement or fun to my look.

Nars work on the basis of two looks: bold eye and nude lips or basic eye with bold lips.

The AMAZING Becci took me on a beauty journey that has totally changed the way I see make up, let alone buy and apply it!

When I got to Becci’s chair on Sunday I was a mess. I was breaking out, filled with red spots and blemishes and had a nasty case of oily skin patched with ultra dry skin. Becci knew what to do with me as soon as I got comfy and made me feel so at ease – even when removing my make up for all to see!

The first thing I HAVE to shout about is the Luminous moisturiser and the amazing Pore and Shine Primer. While not sticky but thick, the Primer set my skin up to feel so silky soft without feeling gloopy or tight!
This is the first Nars product I have bought this week!

The idea behind so many of Nars’ products and ethos is for your skin to look exactly that. No caked on, not too thick and not having to use product upon product. I was shocked to have my entire face done – full eyes and lips included – with around 9 products.

Becci tested my skin tone and colour with three different foundations and talked me through everything she applied. She informed me that Nars don’t follow the contouring trend (of which I am massive fan!) but do highlight. She talked me through the building up and layering of the make up to ensure I look my best while also not looking too made up!

My base foundation was the Sheer Glow Deauville – not too matte for someone with fairly oily skin; I was also treated to the BRILLIANT Radiant Creamy Cannelle Concealer which worked like magic on me!
All blemishes and sights of spots were gone within seconds!

The massive deal breaker for me, hugely encouraged by Becci, was the use of such a bold lip. I am not one for lipsticks and if you’ve ever read my content before, you’ll know that I am really insecure about the size and shapes of my lips – or lack there of! I’ve tried every plumper, lip gloss – you name it, I’ve used it and it hasn’t worked!

Becci was daring enough to try a really bold lip colour on me as well as teaching me a few tricks to make my lips seem larger!

And, I think she smashed it!
I really really LOVED the look of my make up once it was done. I have never felt so beautiful! My lips worked with the liner of Mariachi and the colours of Red Lizard and Annabella gently ombred out.

The tip that Becci gave me to make my lips looks bigger and more full was to add the tiniest bit of Chantilly concealer to the middle part of my lips and blend it out. It gives the impression that the light is catching it and instantly makes your lips look fuller and more juicy!

I have fallen. Hook. Line. Sinker. I am 100% a fully fledged Narsisst!
Not only have I fallen in love with the counter itself – how friendly it is; but I have fallen for it’s amazingly dedicated workers and its flawless products.

Nars is slightly on the more expensive side for someone like me but with the knowledge that the products not only work but make you look incredible, let’s just say, it’s been a bad week for my Credit Card!

I am transformed and I cannot thank Becci enough for pulling me out of my comfort zone and opening my eyes to beauty and incredible customer service.

If you are lucky enough to visit a Nars section in a department store, make sure it’s Becci’s in the amazing new Fenwicks in Bracknell. A gorgeous building filed with Jo Malone treats, a Champagne bar and everything you could ever want to treat yourself to … but it’s Becci who really sold Nars to me!
Someone with so much passion for her job and the company she works for, an infectious love for beauty and so much knowledge she could open her own beauty school.
Go to Fenwicks, Bracknell and ask for Becci!

I’m quite the NARS fan, but unfortunately it isn’t available in South Africa. But I luckily have managed to pick up a few it’s s at Sephora when travelling. I wasn’t into a bold lip for the longest time, but recently it is all I wear . Yours looks lovely! I love it when the staff are helpful and not intimidating or pushy!

That lip combo is beautiful on you! I love NARS, their Sheer Glow foundation in Siberia is my HG! One of the few brands to bring out a perfect match for my pale yellow skintone xx
