So, if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know what I’ve been up to recently. Something a little different for my blog and blogging journey but something I am so excited to have shared with you on Social Media and through this post.
Let’s talk food. Fast food.
We all know I am the original Nugget Queen and so when I was invited to the Reading McDonald’s branch I jumped at the chance to take you all behind the scenes and see how their restaurants have changed in recent years.
When I rocked up the McDonald’s in Reading, as soon as I walked through the door it was clear that some changes had been made since the days of rolling into a McDonald’s after a night out or with a hangover.
Gone are the queues crawling towards the counters from the doors; you wont find piles of mess anywhere.
McDonald’s of 2017 is a whole new place for the modern person.
In a rush and can’t be dealing with all the different people inside the restaurant? Now you can use their super simple kiosks to order your food and get it delivered to your table, depending on what Section you are sat in.
These handy kiosks are staggered as you get closer to the counter and are the easiest automated ordering machine I’ve ever used.
Think beautifully large graphics, transparency of calories, healthy options offered first and meals that you can personalise.
I am a bit of a gherkin fiend. Love me a gherkin. I am that one friend that everyone gives their gherkins to. So, with the option for extra gherkins, I am laughing.. after a breath mint or two.
You can personalise your meal pretty much to as much extent as you want. Burger with no Big Mac sauce? Done. Fruit packs instead of fries for your child’s Happy Meal? Easy!
Let’s talk table service a moment.
What could be better than ordering your favourite McDonald’s Meal and delicious hot chocolate for it to be brought to your table? I am 100% guilty of sometimes sneaking into a McDonald’s to upload content or Social Media posts while treating myself to a McFlurry, so imagine being able to do that with someone bringing your treats over – no brain time lost!
Even better is, you can charge your appliances as you eat! There are three zones to choose from in the Reading Branch, with Section 2 being home to the tablets above. I am all about catching up on my favourite Youtubers over a coffee, charging my phone as I check Twitter and not being disturbed by queuing and faffing as I upload to Instagram. McDonald’s have made it so easy to live in the tech-crazy world that bloggers love and that make our lives so much easier!
While I was visiting McDonald’s, I got to lift the curtain on the Wizard of Oz and sneak behind the scenes of the kitchen while it was live to make my own Big Mac! Myself and a few other bloggers had the best time making our own burgers and seeing what it’s like when McDonald’s is fully in business!
I am all about the Big Mac and there are so many different elements to it that make it the most famous burger ever!
It was quite hard to get to grips with all the different screens, alarms, boxes and sauces but it was amazing to see that everything is made to order!
The days of burgers sat warming under the lights until they’re ordered are long gone. While I was behind the scenes, three orders for burgers came in – some with extra ketchup, some with no ketchup (you get the idea) – and every item was made right in front of us and prepared ready to go in lightening fast speed.
The ladies in the kitchen really knew what they were doing and it ran like a well oiled machine with everyone manning their own stations and keeping quality to a high standard.
I was really impressed with the preparation of the burgers and fried and even got a chance to see and sample some of the deluxe burgers.
McDonald’s has hopped, skipped and jumped into the 21st Century!
With knowing what it’s customers want, healthier choices easily available, table service, less wastage and now the McDonald’s App, I can first hand tell you to banish those Myths and go and try your local McDonald’s with the assurance that you’re getting the best!
I loved my experience working behind the scenes of McDonald’s and I’ve loved being able to share with you not only what I’ve learnt but also helping brush away those horror stories, because, well, they just aren’t accurate!
