My Staycation Goals For Summer 2021

In collaboration with Hotels.com, but all views are my own.

We’re only a few weeks away from lockdown restrictions easing and I am praying that everyone can stay safe, stay healthy and get to the summer. This year, it doesn’t look like I’ll be hearing the flight attendant to put my seatbelt on for landing. Instead, it seems like a summer staycation is on the cards. Luckily, the UK has some incredible spots for summer. Here are my staycation goals for summer 2021…

My Staycation Goals For Summer 2021

Cornwall

I used to visit Cornwall as a child every year. I’ve never been back as an adult but I am desperate to go back.

This summer, I’d love to wonder down there and mosey around seaside villages, go for ice creams along harbours and visit glorious pubs on the cliff side.

Cornwall has so much to offer for everyone. My dream would be to go with my fiancé for some long, lost days of adventures. We’d take our car and rent a lovely cottage, gather all of the snacks and bottles of wine and just reconnect with the sea breeze on our faces and sand between our toes.

The Lake District

Long walks, fresh air, long days out and about. The Lake District offers all of that.

This summer, I want to reconnect. Reconnect with my man, reconnect with nature and reconnect with myself. 2020 was tough going for so many of us and lots of it went by with me moving from day to day, event to cancelled event.

A long trip to the Lake District would give me some much needed me time.

I love the idea of a summer staycation filled with long walks, getting lost, sore feet, late mornings and sleepy Sundays at the Lake District.

Devon

This summer is calling for adventure and Devon ticks a lot of those boxes. A few hours drive away from my home in Windsor, Devon offers lovely coastal paths, fun seaside haunts and all the fun of the countryside.

With plenty of country pubs and scenic routes, Devon is the ideal place for long, family summer holidays.

I want to sneak off down there, switch off my phone and spend time building sandcastles with my mum and laughing over large glasses of wine with my sisters.

I’d love nothing more than a girly road trip. To pack the car full of snacks, face masks and pjs. Devon is number one on my list for a long weekend filled with giggles, splashing in the sea and midnight feasts.

Travelling & COVID

COVID has not disappeared (as much as we’d have liked it to), so when we go away this summer for the staycation of dreams, will still have to take measures to be safe.

As we get further into the summer, hopefully parts of the roadmap will make life more accessible and back to normal.

But it is important to remember to wear your face mask, keep your distance and open windows if you’re all in one spot together.

Later on in this summer, pubs will be open inside and we’ll be able to mix indoors. Until then, make sure you’re mixing safely and so that it complies with lockdown rules, even as it eases.

Ultimately, we need to stick to the rules to ensure that summer holidays can be a thing for the future. Be safe, stay healthy and let us all enjoy a little slice of escapism!
