Beauty treatments with little to no recovery time
*Guest Post
The recovery time needed for invasive beauty treatments, such as liposuction or facelifts, is often a significant factor in people choosing to avoid them and opting for other treatments. These invasive treatments also require, in some cases, a considerable amount of recovery time which makes them non-starters for those with busy lifestyles and without the necessary time to rest and recover.
However, there are lots of non-surgical beauty treatments that offer fantastic alternatives without the need for lengthy recovery times. To help shed some light on these options, we have partnered with Aesthetics Lab, an award-winning cosmetic clinic based in London, to explain more about some of the non-surgical beauty treatments with little to no recovery time that are currently available.
Microneedling
As a treatment that can be used to target a variety of concerns, it may be hard to beat microneedling. Using multiple tiny needles to create punctures in the skin, this process naturally stimulates your skin to produce more collagen and encourages the healing process of the skin, developing plum, smooth, and youthful skin. As a result, it is often used to combat the signs of ageing but can also target scars, stretch marks, and sun damage. The main thing to remember when it comes to recovery after having a microneedling treatment is that you should avoid putting make-up on the treated area for 24hrs and keep it out of direct sunlight, if possible, for 72 hours. Other than that, you can go about your day as usual following a treatment session!
Laser Hair Removal
This treatment is a really popular one for both men and women and can be used on so many different areas of the body. Many of us struggle with unwanted body hair, and laser hair removal is one of the most effective ways of removing hair for longer periods of time. When compared to waxing or shaving, the results last longer, which frees up time for you to do other things! Laser hair removal directly targets the hair follicles causing damage to them and prevents them from growing back. There is no recovery time following a treatment session which is another significant benefit to this treatment. However, it is advised that you use SPF30+ on treated areas if they are exposed, and you’re out of the house.
CoolSculpting
Sometimes known as fat freezing or even cryolipolysis, CoolSculpting is a way of removing fat cells from unwanted areas of your body. Unlike liposuction, this process does not require invasive surgery. It works by using controlled cooling targeted in specific areas to crystalise fat cells. The treatment developed after scientists discovered how sensitive fat cells were to the cold. Once these cells have crystalised and died, your body can remove them naturally, so no surgery is needed at any point. As a result, there is no recovery time required following treatment. Furthermore, the treatment is very easy on your body, with some people able to relax to the point they can read a book or watch Netflix during a treatment session!
PRP Therapy
Possibly the treatment many will not be familiar with from those mentioned in this article, PRP therapy is an interesting and clever treatment. It can be used for various reasons, but when comparing surgical and non-surgical options, it makes sense to look at facelifts. The recovery time for a traditional facelift can vary, but you may still be noticing swelling and tightness for months after the surgery. With PRP therapy, there is no recovery time needed. This treatment works by injecting your own blood plasma into your skin which stimulates healing, collagen production and connective tissue formation. This is why the treatment is often referred to as the ‘vampire facial’. There may be some redness in the treated area, but this will likely reduce within an hour, and your day can go on as normal.
Hopefully, the treatments highlighted above have shown you that you can still enjoy beauty treatments that can offer fantastic results without having to endure hours or days of recovery time. Any experienced cosmetic clinic should be able to advise you further on specific treatments and exactly what to expect when it comes to the time after a treatment, and any further steps you should take to protect a treated area. Thanks again to Aesthetics Lab for their help putting this article together!
