2022 Review: Revive Collagen & Being Pregnant

Being pregnant means that my Google history is crazy. On any given day, at any given time, or at any given location, you’ll find me typing into my phone something like “dried fruits – pregnant”. I am loving my pregnancy journey, it’s been so lovely so far but I didn’t realise how much it would affect my skin, hair, and general appearance. So, when the team behind Revive Collagen got in touch asking for an honest review, I jumped at the chance!

Who Are Revive Collagen?

If you haven’t heard of Revive Collagen you must have been living under a rock! As a skincare blogger, it’s my job to be aware of trends, new brands and follow what the market is showing as resoundingly successful. Before I was pregnant, I did a lot of research into the benefits of collagen and I’ve worked with plenty of collagen-focused brands in my years as a blogger.

Created by Sam Faiers, Revive Collagen is the newest and biggest collagen supplement to hit the high street and it is tried and tested by people like Amanda Holden and fellow beauty and skincare bloggers in my field.

Pregnancy & How My Skin Has Changed

Before I became pregnant, I had no clue how much my skin would change. But, it makes totally sense – the number of hormones being poured into my body at any one time is insane. My skin has suffered and will continue to suffer, I’m sure, once my bouncing bundle of joy has arrived.

I suffered from acne as a teenager and then got really lucky by investing in my skincare throughout Uni.

As an adult, I’d suffer from the odd breakout around my time of the month but nothing too huge. It would be those lovely big red spots that look like a volcano but disappear after a few days.

Immediately, my pregnancy changed my skin.

I now suffer from angry red outbreaks on my cheeks and under my eyes. I’m hotter than the surface of the sun and often look really flushed – making the big red spots look angrier, isn’t that great? The spots aren’t substantial enough to be removed, they just look horrible.

I flash between being too hot and therefore greasy to chilly and therefore dry and flaky.

If you’ve followed my blog before, you’ll know that I have combination skin – well, pregnancy put that on a rollercoaster and send it up the loop-the-loop every day!

While I do get my glow on some days, on others I look like I’ve just run a marathon!

Revive Collagen & My Pregnancy Journey

I’m well into my third trimester now and my package of Revive Collagen only arrived in the last few weeks – so I can’t give a full pregnancy overview, only my own experiences in the last few weeks.

As with all supplements, it’s always wise to check with your midwife on whether you should be using them. That was my first port of call. I’m blessed with a wonderful midwife so it was a breezy chat between examinations and a confirmation given once she’d looked over the packaging and ingredients.

Revive Collagen is said to be safe for both pregnant mamas and breastfeeding mamas – but please do check before you dive straight in, your midwife knows you and your pregnancy better than anyone else!

I started taking one sachet once a day in the morning along with my (usually) healthy breakfast of cereal, fruit, or yogurt.

The collagen is pleasant tasting on its own or watered down in some cordial – I’m super lazy and just whip open the sachet and down it like I’m in a club, not in my kitchen in my maternity PJs!

Am I Seeing Results?

With any good new skincare regime, results won’t appear overnight.

You may see some hints of results in as little as a few days but an overall change won’t be seen for some time. Skincare regimes take patience and consistency.

Having said that, Revive Collagen is the only thing I’ve newly introduced into my skincare regime in the last 3 months, so any changes I can pinpoint to that.

Third-trimester hormones are no joke – that may affect the outcome and success rate of Revive Collagen but it’s something I’ve been aware of the whole time.

Overall, after around 4 weeks of consistent everyday use, I’d say that I’m happy with the new texture and plumpness of my skin.

My hair has been shiny and thick since I found out I was pregnant and I’ve noticed more bounce and volume to it in the last few weeks. It falls out less, behaves better, and rarely gets greasy.

I take daily pregnancy supplements that aid the growth and strength of nails – this has gotten even more obvious since taking Revive Collagen. I accidentally scratched my husband with my super strong nails and had no clue.

On the whole, my skin looks and feels much calmer. The red cheeks are still very much there when I get tired or walk for a prolonged period of time but my breakouts are less and don’t look half as angry.

Will I Continue With Revive Collagen?

I will 100% continue to use Revive Collagen throughout my pregnancy.

I’ll be letting my midwife know once the baby arrives that I’d like to use the supplements if I can breastfeed and take her lead on it.

I’d like my skin to improve in the coming months but I know that I need to be patient and aware that my body is going through lots of changes.

I love the taste and ease of using Revive Collagen, it’s something I’d recommend for all females to invest in!
