Nivea: Summer Nostalgia Review

I don’t know about you lovely lot, but I am LOVING summer. We’re having a bit of a banger aren’t we? Everyone is so buzzing about it and it just brings back the best nostalgic memories of summers gone by, long hot days as a kid in the sunshine, sunny holidays – the lot!

Childhood Memories

Some of my favourite early summer memories include sunny days on the beaches of Cornwall, building sandcastles with my sisters and braving the freezing cold sea! The taste of chocolate ice cream and watching it melt down my little sister’s face.
Summers as a kid went on for a life time, the six weeks summer holidays were a long, stretched out oasis filled with picnics in the park, bike rides around Windsor and playing in the garden.

We were definitely an outdoors-y family, always going for crazy rambles in the country, strawberry picking in sun drenches fields, getting stung by bees while ice pops melt down our arms. Being outside meant we had plenty of things to do, imagination was our best toy – no ipads, consoles or phones! Our skin was protected but naturally deepened in colour but my black hair always stayed dark while my sisters’ fairer corkscrew curls turned blonder and blonder each summer!

Being a kid was amazing – but now I am 26 and engaged, summer means something a bit different! I’m still out in the sunshine as much as possible, my house has a lovely South facing garden so I am basking in the sun alllll day!
But now there’s pub gardens, day drinking, Ascot days out and lazy Sundays spent on hammocks in my bikini!
Summer as an adult is pretty good, you know!

Adult, Skin & Skincare

However, now I am an adult, I am more aware of my skin, skin damage and protection and when I can share that with people I am the happiest.
However, this post isn’t about skincare and sun protection – there’s that to come this season don’t worry!
I love the Sunshine Love Shower Gel from Nivea. It hits that perfect balance of lather and puff while still cleaning you thoroughly.

The smell is the best thing about it, it smells like a summer holiday, a day at the beach! It is drenched with aloe vera and is a tough little cookie in the shower gel stakes.
I absolutely soak myself with sun cream while on holiday and at the beach, over and over and over again. My skin after a day on the sand is dirty from sweat, sticky from sun cream and gritty from the sand. Not to mention the salt residue left all over me from playing in the sea.
So a shower gel that actually cuts through that and cleans you without being harsh on sun tanned skin is something I’ve never actually been able to find.

Oh wow I’d never heard of this before, I’ll have to see if my local boots have it in stock! A shower gel that smells like summer would have a big thumbs up from me!

Oh my goodness, this post makes me want to pack a suitcase and drive down to Cornwall for a few weeks, I have special memories of being tbere too, it was the first place my husband and I went on holiday together. I really need to check my local Boots for this shower gel, it sounds amazing for this time of year.
