7 Ways To Add Cosiness Into Your Life This Autumn
Guest Post From Jenny In Neverland
Let’s be honest, Autumn is the best time of year. More so THIS year, considering we didn’t really have a proper Summer to enjoy, did we? It’s always nice when the leaves start changing and you wake up one morning and feel that first proper chill in the air. I love Autumn – it’s just a magical time of year.
It’s also the perfect time to start getting extra cosy – not just in your home (but that’s a huge part of it too) but just in your life in general. We associate “cosy” with candles, blankets and hot chocolate but the definition of cosy actually means:
“giving a feeling of comfort, warmth, and relaxation.”
Which can extend far further than just throwing a couple of blankets on your bed and lighting your newest Yankee Candle. So let’s look at a bunch of different ways you can add cosiness into your life this Autumn!
Switch up your décor
Okay, let’s start with the most obvious one which is the home décor element of cosiness. This is where your blankets, candles, incense, even the floral arrangements and colours you have in your home come in. Switching these up for the seasons and dusting off any Autumnal décor is a great way to start introducing more cosiness into your life!
Switch up your wardrobe
An extension of the above is your wardrobe, which is obviously going to change as the seasons’ change and the weather gets cooler. You might want to invest in a few new pieces that really embrace cosiness to you – perhaps new jumpers, woolly socks, boots or a coat.
Up your self care
As the definition of the word “cosiness” suggests, we should be embracing anything that helps us feel warmth and comfort. Self care can definitely tick those boxes. Self care doesn’t always look cute and warm and cosy but for this post, it does. Up your self care game at this time of year. Do things you love that make you feel good – don’t forget, the latter part of the year is always busy and stressful!
Go back to basics
I think Autumn is a GREAT time of year to go back to basics a little bit and it can also really help with the general feeling of cosiness in your life too. Try and start focusing on the little things and appreciating them more than ever. It’s a great time to slow down and try and incorporate more slow living practices into your life. Even if it’s just for a day or two!
Food, food, food
Food always gets better this time of year and beautiful, fresh, home-made Autumnal food can increase the cosiness levels a million percent! Maybe take some time to visit farmers markets, buy local and fresh produce, experiment in the kitchen and create warm and hearty meals for yourself and your family.
Dedicate time for relaxation
If the definition of cosiness means giving a feeling of relaxation then we’d better relax, right? Try and find some time – some PROPER time – to dedicate to relaxation this Autumn to boost the cosiness levels in your life. Maybe a whole Sunday to cosy and warming self care or even book yourself a couple of days at a spa hotel (that’s what I’m doing this Autumn!)
Embrace your inner child
And finally, doing things to embrace your inner child really does drum up all the cosy feelings. It’s a great time to get silly and do things just because they’re fun. I think as adults, we often forget to do things like that. Jump in piles of leaves, watch Disney movies all day, make smores – just do things just because.
I hope this post helps to give you some ideas on how you can incorporate more cosiness into your life this Autumn! After the 18 months we’ve all had, you absolutely deserve it. So this is your reminder to put yourself first and welcome an abundance of cosiness into your life for the next 4 months!
