Slendertox Tea Review

It’s that time of year. The dreaded gym bunnies and Diet Generals have come out of the wood work to make you feel just terrible. And, let’s be honest – it works. If you’re not in the gym or on a diet at this time of year, you’ll have nothing in common with, well, everyone. So, of course brands and the media tap into this. This is both a good and a bad thing – it means that healthy figures are more celebrated than ever and healthy supplements etc. are even more readily available. The negative side of it means that brands and the media can twist and manipulate products that seem like the best thing ever when they’re actually … s***. I have fallen prey to this following Christmas. As a blogger, I often get sent things to review and to then give my honest opinion of. You know me, I am as honest as I can possibly be. That’s why writing this post has been no easy feat!

In this post, I am reviewing Slendertox Tea‘s – a nice brand that is well known amongst the Instagrammers out there and it’s highly advertised by every Tom, Dick and Harry of the celeb-sphere. This brand promises lots for little effort. Instant weight loss from drinking a cuppa every day and every other night? Who wouldn’t want to give that a go!? If you’re anything like me, minimal effort with maximum effect is right up my street! So, what’s the catch I hear you scream!?

Bad news guys, if you think it sounds too good to be true – you’d be right! Well done for trusting your instinct! I am hoping that this post will help throw some light on the ins and outs of this product and highlight what the brand and lovely pockets of tea DON’T TELL YOU! So that unlike me, you don’t have to spend hours and hours of your precious time researching what the pitfalls are!

I spent a very long time researching the product, as any blogger does, and luckily I came into contact with a lovely fellow blogger who revealed to me that this little miracle of a diet could be quite detrimental to you.

If you are on the pill or any type of medication – you SHOULD NOT use this product.

The catch? The reason why so many people shed significant amounts of weight by solely using this product?

Because it basically makes you poo out EVERYTHING in your stomach! So, if you are on any type of contraceptive pill or medication – I recommend you don’t try this product! Sadly, this isn’t very well known and I have heard first hand stories of people being on the pill, using this detox and then falling pregnant. It’s such a shame because the product itself is really lovely.

For this reason, I wasn’t able to trial the product – losing weight this way was not a priority over illegitimate baby time! Thankfully, my lovely boyfriend was on hand to trial it for me – and to brief me on every single detail of his two week experience!

The Slendertox Tea that I received included a fortnight’s worth of daily tea – to be taken each morning as close to waking time as possible; and Sleeptox Tea to be drank every night within two hours of sleepy time. The Pockets in which the tea is stored and preserved are very nice – and would fit in in any stylish kitchen.  The tea itself comes in little silk-like bags – very luxurious!

The day time tea is almost minty and tastes like very weak Green Tea in need of some sugar. The Sleeptox tea is more sweet and closer to normal English Breakfast Tea. There were no complaints on flavor from my boyfriend.

The complaints came about midweek of week 1. We are fairly health conscious and at the very least, eat our five a day – though we are partial to a drink and the odd take away (we’re only human!). While he was not off his food, he was eating less – only noticeable because we live together, I guess. What was more obvious than anything, was the frequency he was popping to the toilet – and the more he went the longer he spent in there.

Having done lots of research on these sorts of products, I knew this was a very likely side effect. But, my goodness – no wonder they recommend you follow the Detox only on your days off! He reported to me many times the feeling of a really poorly tummy, urgency and on more than one occasion having to rush home from work in the middle of the day!

Now you may be like many (and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that) and be fine with the purging in order to gain the best results. That is totally fair enough. A detox of sorts does include purging all of the toxins inside you so this could be part and parcel of your Detox. But for me, this was very foreign – and for my little Guinea Pig who drew the short straw to trial it, it was quite distressing actually. It isn’t nice being stuck in one place and literally not being able to move – and his morale dipped quite a lot too!

OK, enough of the down sides, I hear you chant! The results?

Sadly, not enough of a result was made to make up for the two weeks of feeling bad! Yes, there are noticeable inches off of many parts of his body and his face certainly looks slimmer – but he felt terrible! And, the Detox has been over for a few days and sadly those results have almost completely gone.

Lovely people out there, if you are looking for a full on Detox to start a diet with – this product is for you! If, like me, you are looking for a quick fix – there isn’t one – and, well, this certainly wouldn’t be it! If you are on any type of medication this product is not for you!

I hate to be a Debby Downer but that’s the truth!

I just got sent the 14 day detox to try out. I had one mug yesterday and then someone told me it will (putting it nicely) give you a bad stomach lol and now reading this, I’m actually on the pill myself so i don’t think i wanna try anymore of this now. I feel bad as the company sent me a pack out but wether my Mum wants to try it then i don’t think i want to bother. Mine also had no nice taste, just tasted like bland normal tea without the milk or sugar lol

    Hi Rosie

Thank you for your honest review, we have recently changed our recipe in the last few months and our Day Tea does not contain any Senna, our Night Tea contains only a small amount. Our teatox is natural and safe to use and for those who are on the Pill we would suggest taking your Pill at night or if you are cautious use a different method of contraception. Any cramps you may suffer from is a normal reaction to the detox and should subside in the first few days. Please check out our FAQS on our site if you have further queries, Thanks x

Oh my god Rosie I was so close to trying this before I come across a similar post that informed me of the effect it has on the pill! I was so shocked that this factor hadn’t been clearly stated in their advertisements!! So many of my friends including myself are on the pill. It’s a very known fact that so many young girls do quite literally anything to match the figures of the celebrities in the magazines, this tea is so easily accessible that without the appropriate research so many young girls could unwillingly fall pregnant!
Love your review though lovely, hope you had a nice weekend! 🙂 xx

I know these teas are designed as laxatives, but I wouldn’t have thought about the effect they’d have on medications!! Thank you so much for pointing that out 🙂 xx

Glad you pointed out the effect these can have on people who are taking certain medications, you don’t hear many people mention that! I’ve never used any kind of tea like this before but you see them all over social media and instagram, i think it’s really shocking that they’re promoting it as a weight loss product when really it’s just a heavy laxative!
