5 Things To Look Forward To This Autumn

If I could use two words to describe the summer of 2021, it would be: damp squib. Summer never really got out of the blocks, did it? We had about a week of blistering sun and then lots and lots of cloud and rain. August had more days of rain than warmth and it started to get me excited for the days ahead. Autumn is one of my favourite times of the year and I wanted to share my love by writing my 5 Things To Look Forward To This Autumn!

5-Things-To-Look-Forward-To-This-Autumn

1. Autumn Candles

I can’t lie to you, I’ve already taken a trip to TKMaxx and Home Sense to bulk buy all of the Autumn scented candles. It’s become a little end of August ritual for us and it’s one I love! Although, smelling candles in a shop is slightly harder with a mask on and while social distancing.

Autumn for me is the time to hunker down, get cosy and prepare for winter and Christmas.

Scented candles are lit as the evening draws in, nights get darker earlier and rainy days take over our lives.

Is there anything better than Autumn candles?

These are my top Autumn candles for this year:

2. Autumn Fashion

Whether it’s full length knits, mega knits, cut outs, going green or shirt dressing, Autumn fashion is something I can get excited about.

Autumn, for me, is the start of wooly tights, chunky boots, wooly hats and midi dresses.

While I love summer, summer dresses and flipflops, there’s nothing quite like getting bundled up and going out into the fresh air.

Trends to expect this autumn:

  • chunky knits – it’s a no brainer for Autumn and this season, you’ll be able to take chunky knits from day to night
  • going green – green is the colour of Autumn this year. I’m not a big green girl but I’m going to embrace emeralds and dark greens
  • cut outs – expect to see a lot of cut out knits, cut out jumpers and sparkly bits missing here and there.
  • mega knits – remember that photo of Lenny Kravitz and his rug/scarf? That’ll be us this Autumn, and do you know what? I’m here for it

3. An Extra Hour In Bed

The clocks will soon be going back and that means one thing: an extra hour in bed.

For you yummy mummies, that might not come as welcome information as your little ones may not let you lie in lazily and watch crap Sunday morning TV.

But I am down for an extra hour to take things slow, welcome in the new season and relax. Even though we’ve been at home and transitioning back into reality, there’s nothing quite like time in bed watching your favourite show.

4. Autumn Baking, Cooking & Hot Drinks

Inevitably, Autumn makes us stay home a bit more. The rain will come as will gloomy days and cooler temperatures.

Longer days at home means lots of baking, cooking and making hot drinks.

Wholesome, stick to your ribs food is what I crave in Autumn when the nights start drawing in. I love big dishes like lasagne, cottage pies, roast dinners and crumbles.

Halloween is on the way and it’s all about the PSLs – I’ve got an alert on my phone to tell me when my local coffee shop will be dishing out their pumpkin spice lattes.

5. Halloween

This is Halloween, this is Halloween.

My favorite spooky season is almost upon us.

For the entirety of October, I’ll be craving pumpkins, playing with SFX, organising a Halloween party and eating sweets.

Halloween is my soul’s favourite time to shine.

I can’t wait to get spooky with my witches and party like Jack Skellington.

It’s official, Autumn has my heart!

What are you looking forward to this Autumn?
