Guilt Free Treats | Skinny Bakery

There’s been a lot of noise in the blogging world about food, the image of food and its portrayal – false or not, when it comes to bloggers and blogging. The attitude towards blogging, food and the ‘gram has been under the spotlight on my feed a lot this week and I wanted to address it directly. The memes going round of “am I the only fat cow out there..” etc. and seeming to glorify over eating, bloggers ordering entire breakfast menus just to pose and photograph with them then waste them.. it’s not ok. I for one have a constant battle with food, I am by no means over weight but my relationship with food is a tempestuous one! So, when Skinny Bakery approached me recently about showing off their delicious treats I jumped at the chance.. because they’re almost guilt free!

Yep, I love my job!

Being sent a whole box of sweet treats to try and test for my blog – I’ve officially peaked! You may have seen on my Instagram Stories the huge box I received and most of the mini cakes, pearls and biscuits lasted almost a week! I couldn’t help myself but tuck into as many as possible when they arrived.. ya know for the blog!

The beauty of Skinny Bakery is they are totally and completely transparent. They literally do exactly what they say on the tin. I am all for obvious and open marketing and making it abundantly clear to consumers what they are buying and putting into their bodies. I personally read the nutrition information on almost everything I buy – disregard the odd drunken McDonald’s and all those cocktails!

All of Skinny Bakery’s goodies have the calories clearly written on them, there’s no getting away from the honesty of the brand and that is something I find so refreshing!

In my bumper package I received:

Skinny Mini Gingerbread Men
Skinny Choc & Orange Cookies
Double Chocolate Meringue Cookies
Skinny Chocolate Pearls
Skinny Beetroot Pearls
Skinny Carrot Cake Pearls

In each pack you get around five of each flavour and each one is around 30-40 calories.

The Skinny Bakery uses alternative ingredients like sweet potato, beetroot and quark to get that creamy, luxury flavour without the heart attack inducing fats!

The real test is in the taste…

Well, they all look good; the cookies crumble and snap in a way only Paul Hollywood would be proud of. The cakes are moist, fluffy and perfect-mouthful-sized. And, they all taste insanely delicious!
Wow!
I even did a sneaky secret test on my man. I put a few items on a plate for him ready when he got home (hiding the evidence of any Skinny packaging for a true reading of his like or dislike) and waited with baited breath…

He had no clue they were low calorie, he LOVED the taste – his favourite were the carrot cake pearls, he ate so many of the cookies that I had to hide them from him.
Yep, my very own cave man loved all the sweet guilt free treats from Skinny Bakery, thought they tasted spot on for flavour and I personally think they taste BETTER knowing that they wont be contributing towards growing my butt!
