How HappyPuzzle Saved My Sanity (and My Toddler) from Screen Overload This Summer

We’re in the midst of the fourth heatwave of the summer, the sun is doing its thing, the kids are officially over the garden sprinkler circuit . . . and my toddler is THAT close to calling “Mummy” for the millionth time. Cue HappyPuzzle, swooping in like the crafty, colourful lifesaver we desperately needed. Read on to see my full & honest Happy Puzzle review.

The Amazing Flower Kit: Blooms Without the Mess

I unpacked the Amazing Flower Kit — and WOW. It’s like an origami, motor skills, and assembly dream. It’s a great pack that encourages you to work together to make the best flower designs of flowers. There’s a handy guidebook with flower designs & names so you can pick styles or go freestyle.

It’s a little fiddly for my three-year-old old but it held his concentration for almost an hour with my support. He loved taking the different shapes off their sheets and assembling them in different orders on the straw stems to make different patterns.

He also loved making his own designs and “crazy flowers”. I was in awe of his patience and concentration – even if parts were a bit fiddly!

But here’s the best bit: no screens. We aren’t on a screen-free bid but I am juggling work life with a toddler so having screen-free activities where possible is a God send.

WaxiDoodles: Waxy Doodling THAT Just Won’t Quit

Enter: WaxiDoodles — hand modelling with wax-covered sticks that are great for little hands who want to play and create.

This game is an excellent way to get your child’s imagination flowing with a quick guide on different models – and then free rein to make crazy animals and creations. A highlight for me as a toddler mum is using WaxiDoodles for letter formation. Jack is still only 3 but shows a great interest in reading, writing, drawing and cutting. We’ve used our WaxiDoodles over and over to create his name, our names and different shapes.

The texture is toddler-friendly and they are so easy to mould and move, you’ll be able to drink a hot cup of tea while they explore and play!
