Spring is coming: time to adjust your skincare routine!

The birds are chirping more, the sun is shining a little longer and slowly we even see the first green leaves on the trees… Yes, spring is finally in the air again after a long winter! With spring, many people think of a big spring clean and the change in their wardrobe. But did you know that spring is also the ideal time to adjust your skincare routine? After a cold winter, your skin could use different products than it used to. Wondering which ones? Then read on quickly!

Switch to lighter face creams

In winter, we like to use rich, nourishing creams to keep our dry skin hydrated. But in spring, it’s actually better to switch to lighter moisturisers, like Beauty of Joseon‘s Dynasty Cream. It still nourishes the skin, but feels much lighter which is nice when our skin is less sensitive and dry because of the cold.

Scrub your skin

Changing temperatures and dry air (cold outside, hot inside) do your skin no good in winter. When spring temperatures rise again and humidity increases, it is a good time to give your skin a little extra pampering. Regular exfoliation (both face and body) rids your skin of dead skin cells and stimulates circulation, resulting in a smoother, healthier and more radiant complexion. Korean Skincare has a very versatile and high quality range of scrubs and exfoliants.

Protect your skin against the first sun

In the sun, your skin makes more vitamin D, but it is important to let your skin get used to the sun gently and avoid sunburn. The sun also creates free radicals. So use caring products with a UV filter and plenty of antioxidants that fight skin aging.

Beautiful skin and healthy food go hand in hand. Did you know that you can also protect your skin from harmful effects of the sun by eating the right foods? For example, blue grapes, red and purple forest fruits contain many antioxidants that protect your skin from UV rays. But almonds and tomatoes also have a protective function.

Drink enough water

The ‘drying’ effect of winter and the cold is not limited to our skin only, but has its impact on the whole body. Therefore, drink plenty of water and light herbal teas (e.g. green tea with ginger or lemon) to purify your body. Also, we usually sweat more in spring than during the cold winter months, so this is another reason why it is definitely important to keep our bodies hydrated from the inside out.
