Working from home has been a Godsend for some companies and the welfare of employees. But more people are now being forced back into the office. However, if you are new to WFH, you might want to consider making some small changes for a comfy remote work experience.

Dress for Comfort

One of the biggest questions around working from home is often, “What should I wear?”. This is hard to answer because everyone has a different opinion on what makes good work clothes, where casual and professional clothing meets and what is actually comfortable. So the real answer is to just wear what works for you. Loose clothing such as blouses, abayas and shirts might be better for how you work, and some people like nothing more than working in PJs!

Give Yourself Some Space

Working in comfort depends on more than how you feel in your garments. Working comfortably also relies on having enough space to get your job done. Most people who complete remote work use computers, laptops and tablets. A desk, standing or sitting, that is large enough for your work is always recommended. However, the room in which you work also plays a critical role. A cramped room filled with boxes, spare furniture and knick-knacks just won’t do.

Glam Your Chair for Comfy Remote Work

If you need to sit at a desk or use a computer for a long time during the day, a quality chair is essential. In the UK, you should aim for a chair for between £200 and £300. That’s a lot of money, but you will be thankful for it. However, there are cheaper alternatives. For instance, you can buy office chair cushions designed to keep your rear comfy! It will also help keep your tushy warm when getting your home office ready for winter. Padded armrests also make a difference.

Clean, Declutter and Decorate

You will probably create a makeshift office of sorts in whatever space is available when first taking on remote work. However, you will soon find that it becomes tedious and challenging to work for long periods in an undesirable spot. Set aside some time to clear a suitable space and make it yours. Remove anything you don’t need and decorate if you have the time and money. Creating a dedicated office space is more comfortable and helps you stay more productive.

Personalise the Space

Even if you work from home, work still feels like work. And it can be stressful. However, you can ease this by creating a personalised space. Adorning the room with extras that make you feel comfortable can make a huge difference. Some people love to place houseplants for the office, others fill the feature wall with family photographs, and some take it a little further and add hobby memorabilia. Whatever it is that makes you enjoy the room more, just add them in!

Summary

Dressing for comfort is one way to enjoy comfy remote work and stay productive. However, a quality office chair is a major advantage if you have to sit all day. You can also motivate yourself more and work happier if you take some time to decorate and personalise the office space.
