Hen Party Ideas
Are you engaged? Is your best mate getting hitched? Are you just love and marriage mad like me? Well, if there is every any excuse for a party, it’s when someone’s getting hitched! I am, in fact, on my way up the aisle to be best friends with the love of my life for ever! While we aren’t planning on having an Hen Party (we’re super private and will be having a quiet and private Wedding too!) I can indulge in what would happen at my ultimate Hen Party! So, here’s some ideas, some shopping inspo and get merry to get wed!
As someone who was a bridesmaid for my beautiful sister and her man, and as a bride to be myself, I’ve learnt that there’s lots of scope when it comes to organising your perfect Hen party!
First of all, what is your vibe? Mine and my man’s is very low key. Despite what snippets I choose to share on social media, we are actually very private people. We chose not to have a big engagement party but simply a dinner with friends and I have entrusted my sister with the organisation of my Hen Party as I trust her to keep the fun things a surprise and well, ignorance is bliss!
However, if your vibe is sparkles and sipping champers, do you!
I see your engagement party as a dress rehearsal of sorts for your big day. It’s a trial run for your big day and often it can be the first time that many members of each families are forced into the same room together!
And Lord, that can be a daunting thought. If your family is like mine then there is potential for estranged parents to enter into the same room with a mix of alcohol and it’s enough to give me grey hairs – now you’re getting an insight into my vibe a little more!
So a Hen Party should be even more fun! A chance to let your hair down and feel the love of all of the important people around you!
But, this is the first time in your life that everyone is coming together to celebrate you and your other half! So do you!

There’s the obligatory hen do decorations that in my opinion you just have to have! I think you can’t go wrong with as many garish and silly banners… for my sister’s recent Hen Do, we took her to Dublin for a surprise weekend and decorated everything with Hen Do banners and even on that said “Same Penis Forever”!

I think you simply cannot get enough of the “Hen” Balloons! We found some great ones from Amazon but I also know that Asda do some great ones. The great thing about the balloons above is that they come flat packed within an inch of their life and you simply blow them up at your destination and hang them in the desired area. This is great for cutting costs and also keeping the weight in your luggage down (if you’re planning on having a destination hen do!)

Here is us, some of my sister’s bride squad dancing away under our “hen do” sign. It really helped to make our weekend fun as we were constantly taking photos of it, under it, for it!

If you’re planning a hen party, the ideal situation is to do you! My sister wanted girliness, prosecco and fun. And that’s what we gave her!
There’s so many ways that you can personalise your night and or weekend – it can be so easy!
We bought my sister t shirts, we each had sashes, we had banners, we bought willy straws (of course), we had photo booth props (hilarious) and we also had drinking games. As you can probably tell, we like a drink in my family; we are Irish after all and visited the home land (Dublin) for the weekend. It was wild – I even have something like Fresher’s Flew as a result, and I am 28!
There’s so much you can do but the key is to make sure it reflects you!
Happy Hen organising lovelies!
