Summer Sustainably

Being sustainable is something I am becoming more and more aware of. It’s also something I am striving more to be. Since watching Seaspiracy last month, I’ve had my eyes opened to how one little person, like me, that can make a real change to the world. With summer almost upon us, I wanted to share some tips on how to summer sustainably this year.

What Does Being Sustainable Mean?

While there is no universal definition of what sustainability means, it is widely understood that being sustainable means that we endeavour to keep things at a certain level. Or, rather, not let them become any worse.

Sustainability, with regard to the environment, means avoiding the depletion of natural resources in order to keep ecological balance.

Introducing The Humble Co.

Last summer, I worked with The Humble Co. on some of their dental items. Little did I know that their items of eco-friendly bamboo cotton swabs, bamboo tooth picks, bamboo tooth brush and natural, chewable toothpaste tablets would completely change the way I live my day to day life.

The Humble Co. are at the forefront of being sustainable. They are passionate about not taking any shortcuts with their products and they work so hard to ensure that their customers are happy. This brand show that there are so many smart swaps that can be made to contribute towards are more sustainable life.

S’Wheat Bottles

I drink a lot of water. My skincare routine depends on me staying hydrated and ingesting as much fluid as possible. I have tried lots of different water bottles. Since working from home, I’ve mixed up drinking from water bottles and pint glasses but it just didn’t work for me.

S’Wheat were lovely enough to send me one of their reusable water bottles to try – and I love it.

Self-titled, the world’s most eco-friendly bottle, all S’Wheat bottles are created from sustainably sourced plant material in Scotland. For every bottle sold, the company will remove plastic from our oceans. They donate a healthy percentage of their profits to sustainable charities and also plant trees in honour of their customers.

I mean, when I say S’Wheat cover all bases, I’m right, aren’t I?

The great thing about these bottles is the feel, make and science behind them. They keep my ice cold water lovely and cool for ages while I’m working. I’ve also used my bottle as a kind of thermos when out for a long walk. The hot water was kept nice and warm the whole time!

As well as brushing your teeth, flossing and chewing on The Humble Co.’s bits every single day, you can also invest in their bamboo cotton buds.

While trying out S’Wheat’s new water bottles, you can also invest in some wooden cutlery for when you’re out and about.

Treat yourself to a night off of cooking by having a leftovers night – it means no waste and more free time.

How about switching out some of your meals for meat and fish free? By reducing the amount of meat and fish you eat, you can help the environment by allowing it to recover from over farming and over fishing.

There are lots of things that you can do to help towards becoming more sustainable. Just a few, easy swaps can make all the difference. If we all do our tiny bit, we can change the world together.

What swaps will you make?
