My Top Summer Skin Care Tips
I might be sat under a blanket and listening to the rain as I type this, but we’ve had some lovely few weeks of scorching sun recently. Summer in the UK has officially kicked off and it’s a vibe. The longer days, lighter mornings and warm days make life so much happier. However, there are a few top skincare tips that I think you should consider for this summer. Ready for my top tips?

SPF Is Your Best Friend!
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times: SPF is sooo important for your skin. The sun and the damage that it can cause to your skin is irreversible. To ensure that your skin doesn’t get too much damage you must be applying SPF to your skin on your face and all over your body ANY time you see the sunshine.
My rule of thumb is: if it’s bright enough to read a book, it’s bright enough for SPF!

Go Minimalist With Your Products
I’ve talked a lot recently about skinimilasm and it’s something I’m really here for when it’s too hot to function – let alone put on creams, lotions and make up.
Sunkissed skin means that you don’t have to rush for the cover ups half as much. If you’re like me, your skin will clear with more vitamin D and you will glow with the summer. Yes, I am sweaty, that can’t be helped.
If you aren’t wearing layers and layers on your body, why would you do that with your skin?
This summer, let your skin breathe by adding a really robust SPF, a moisturiser, and a spritz to keep your skin hydrated. I really rate Mavala’s Vitalizing Alpine Micro-Mist – I have three bottles: one on my desk and one in my “day” handbag and the other in my little bag that goes everywhere with me!

Keep Your Skin Hydrated
Hydration is key – especially when you’re sweating buckets between answering emails and chasing the sun in your garden. It’s been hella humid recently and my skin is the first place to show if I’m lacking some much needed hydration.
For the best skin hydration it’s easy: drink plenty of fluids (water is ideal but the odd cocktail won’t hurt), moisturise your skin throughout the day, use sun cream and treat your skin with after sun once you’re out of the sunshine.
I tend to drink pints and pints of water throughout the day and my body tells me if I’m not feeling hydrated enough. If you have trouble getting your daily fluid intake, you may want to consider getting an IV drip. This type of treatment can fully rehydrate your body in less than an hour. When I need a quick top up, I’ll come inside out of the sun and lather my skin in a cooling moisturiser.
Exfoliate Weekly
I always forget how amazing that glow is after a good exfoliating scrub. It’s the one part of my skincare routine that gets forgotten week in and week out and it’s a regret of mine. However, exfoliating can help your skin so much this summer.
Your skin might feel dull and your glow might be off – that’s natural when you’re slathering yourself in creams to stay protected. But, it’s so important to release those layers from your skin to get your glow back.

I really rate Procoal’s Salicylic Eggs for a quick in-shower exfoliation – they’re kind on skin, smell great and soothe while also getting my dead skin off!
Shower Don’t Bath
I mean, I personally couldn’t think of anything worse than a long, hot bath during this summer season. Don’t get me wrong, I love a long soak and an excuse to relax but phew, talk about sweat box.
If you want your skin to glow this summer, cut down on the baths and swap them out for showers.
Go one step further and turn down the temperature of your shower to make it cooler on your skin.
At the minute, I am fully back on the wedding fitness regime so I’m showering after a big work out and the cool water on my skin and in my hair is a dream.
Your skin will thank you!
Avoid The Sun During The Hottest Part Of The Day
Honestly, I am sun hound, I love nothing more than the sun on my skin and getting a tan. But I know how important it is to get shade during the hottest period of the day.
There is no need to sit directly in the sun between 11am and 3pm. The sun in England is not like the sun on holiday, there’s no swimming pool to dive into and it is sweaty!
Save your skin and get some shade!

Very well explained. I know a bit about summer skincare. My skincare routine is mostly homemade. I learned a few natural home remedies for daily skincare from iahas.com but these natural products may be worth trying.
