AD – Refresh Your Skin This Spring With Boots

#AD. This post is in conjunction with Boots UK but all with Boots UK thoughts are my own

For the first time in a long time, the prospect of Spring, warmer weather, and a long, hot summer is exciting. COVID stole so much from us in the last two years – time with our loved ones, carefree sunny days and so much more. While the threat of COVID is still around, it feels like there is a re-emergence of hope, happiness, and fun for Spring. I, for one, am thrilled to see Spring awakening, and, with her, glorious sunshine and warmer temperatures. But, I don’t think I’m alone in admitting that I’m a little rusty and out of practice when it comes to my skincare and giving it a much-needed refresh for Spring. Luckily, I’ve collaborated with Boots for an easy guide on how to refresh your skin this Spring!

The Importance of SPF

As a teenager, I was told:

“If it’s bright enough to read a book, it’s bright enough for SPF”

This is something of a holy grail piece of information that I’ve taken with me through to my adult life. As a new mummy, I’m out and about a whole lot more than when I was working full time and tied to my desk all day everyday.

We were blessed with gorgeous sunshine during the first lockdown – but let’s be honest, that summer was a scary rollercoaster turned free for all.

However, so far, 2022 has been treating us nicely with plenty of pockets of sunshine, warm days, and long nights that have been spent cooing over the baby while catching some shade in the garden.

SPF skincare is key to skin health! Before getting out in the sunshine – even just to put the washing on the line – you NEED to be slathering a good quality sun cream and SPF on your skin.

My little one is less than six months old so must be kept out of the sun at all times, but when he’s ready for our first sunny holiday, I’ve got this set

SPF Picks

Before I go outside I make a habit of covering my body in a good quality SPF and these lotions from Soltan are my top pick. They smell like childhood holiday memories, the handy spray nozzle makes it easy to apply in a hurry and the creamy texture makes it easy to apply, spread thick and I’ll top up in a couple of hours.

On a rare day of getting some time to sit (still) in the garden and enjoy the beautiful sunny rays, I’ll cover myself head to toe in this stuff.

Aside from the SPF value it’s also really important to consider the UVA protection. I love Soltan because of its 5 Star Rating which is the highest rating for UVA protection. There are different ways brands demonstrate UVA protection so make sure you are doing your research. For my gorgeous little one, nothing but Factor 50 Sun Cream with 5 star rating will do.

Facial SPF

I can read your mind – on the days when you want to glam up, put make up on and not look like a swamp monster (oh, those were the days!), you can’t possibly apply a thick layer of Soltan to your face and neck and then apply gorgeous make up.

And, I agree. That’s why I am refreshing my skin and skincare routine with Boots by investing in a few top quality facial SPF creams that can go on under my make up and throughout the day when I just fancy a flick of mascara for the day.

La Roche-Posay have brought out this excellent skincare solution – it’s one I’m loving right now, especially now that the sun is shining every single day.

This cream is factor 30, light, creamy but fluid enough to ensure that my make up is applied evenly and gently. It is also one of the only SPFs that don’t make my full face of make up slide off when it gets all hot and sweaty.

I adore this brand for skincare, it’s one that has come into my life just at the right time during my pregnancy when my hormones had a full on reaction to breakouts and now that my little one is here and my own self care has fallen to the bottom of the list of priorities.

Vitamin C In My Skincare

Along with SPF, I’ve reintroduced some top quality Vitamin C Serum into my daily skincare routine.

Vitamin C serums work hard to add natural collagen back into your skin and face – something needed to ensure your skin feels healthy, looks flawless, and bounces back against daily pollution, stresses and strains.

My recent bout of sleepless nights and the ones still to come have left me feeling somewhat deflated. I feel tired and I know that I look tired. That pregnancy glow has disappeared and the look of a tired new Mama seems here to stay.

I’ve really felt the need to up my Vitamin C serum game on the days when I remember to take a little more care of myself.

My Skincare

In my humble opinion, the No 7 range has it all. One of my favourite picks from them exclusively at Boots is their Restore & Renew Serum – designed and tested on women over 60.

It does everything it says on the tin and more. After a week of using this in the mornings and night, my skin felt more plump, and more glowy.

When I use No 7 products, I feel like I can face the world without a full face of make up!

I plan to invest even more in No 7 as the Spring and Summer progress so keep an eye out for my future picks.

If you’ve read my blog before, you’ll know just how much I love ELF for their skincare and beauty picks.

It wouldn’t be a Spring skincare refresh from Boots without something from ELF falling in my basket. This Holy Hydration Face Cream is seriously impressive.

I’m currently using it every night before bed and my skin has never been so thankful!

Refreshing my skin and skincare routine this Spring is EASY with Boots!
