The Best Pumpkin Patches To Visit This Autumn

Halloween is almost upon us. Midnight struck on October 1st and our Instagram feeds are awash with selfies at the pumpkin patch, pumpkin spiced everything and cute Halloween decor. I, for one, am very happy to see the return of Halloween & Autumn on my feeds. Stay ahead of the trend by visiting my top picks of pumpkin patches near London!

Copas Farm, Cookham

For any Cookham locals, like me based in Windsor, Copas Farm is the perfect pumpkin picking day out.

I visit every year to pick my pumpkins – and plan on visiting very soon, so stay tuned to my Instagram to see how it goes with a very active toddler.

Copas Farm has lots of activities for toddlers and small children including a huge field of pumpkins to pick. You can get lost in their large maize maze, do some arts and crafts in their barn or enjoy walks around the fruit fields.

Garsons Farm, Surrey

For any Surrey locals and those happy to drive to paradise, Garsons Farm offers a great chance to go pumpkin crazy in their pick-your-own fields. Your “pumpkin pass” is a mere £3 and you can pick away to your heart’s content.

Better still, make a day of it by exploring their extensive farm and seeing things like their table top strawberries, sweetcorn and full garden centre. Bonus, their farm shop has amazing foods to die for like handmade scotch eggs!

This lovely farm may be familiar to daytime TV viewers, it’s a firm favourite for Good Morning Britain weather segments & This Morning cooking segments.

Secretts, Surrey

Make pumpkin picking fun for the adults by visiting Secretts in Surrey and sampling their craft beers – they’ve got the biggest selection in Surrey!

This farm is super popular and very well known among local celebrities so make sure you book ahead and look your best in your snaps!

Run your toddlers and kids ragged on the huge land and go home with lots of different varieties of pumpkin.

Tulley’s Farm, West Sussex

If you read my sunflower field guide back in the summer, you’ll know that Tulley’s Farm

is a firm local favourite for this kind of thing. They go pumpkin and Halloween crazy during October! You can visit and take the day/evening to enjoy their horror mazes, theme-park style rides and carnival games and even enjoy their circus of horrors.

Pick your pumpkins, take beautiful family photos and then enjoy all the fun of Halloween!

Tulley’s Farm at Turners Hill, Crawley, RH10 4PE

Crockford Bridge Farm, Surrey

A pick-your-own specialist, this farm is home to not only pumpkins but rhubarb, asparagus, and strawberries throughout the year. They even have Christmas trees coming in in just a few weeks. This is a super popular pumpkin pitch for people with children of all ages so make sure you book in advance to get the best spot!

Priory Farm, Surrey

A great pumpkin picking spot just outside of London. Make a day of it with the little ones by enjoying their cool Halloween Trail to solve the mystery of the missing pumpkins. For tractor-mad toddlers like mine, you can hop on a tractor ride and tour the entire farm and patch!

My personal favourite is the Pumpkin Palace – a great opportunity to get some photos for your memory box.

Wasing Pumpkins

I’ve truly saved the best till last with this one!

Wasing Park is home to a wonderful pumpkin patch and enchanting decorated woodland trail.

The most incredible fairytale pumpkin carriage awaits you once you are there – it truly is something from a Disney dream. Your children will love it!

Wasing have thought of everything by erecting a gorgeous tent to cover the entire area.

When can you start going pumpkin picking?

The massive pumpkins are typically harvested before the first hard frost, in late September or early October. The rind should be hard and fully colored. Unlike smaller pumpkins, giant pumpkins have very thick stems that are hard to cut. Use a pruning saw or garden loppers to carefully remove fruits from their vine.

How much are pumpkins at pumpkin picking UK?

Pick Your Own Pumpkins is open throughout October. Booking is not required, simply turn up to the farm shop. Pumpkins range in price from £1.95 to £3.50 and are based on the size of pumpkin.
