Now that it’s July and August, bright yellow sunflower fields bloom across the UK. Sunflower fields are an extraordinary sight, there is nothing quite like a lovely long summer in the UK walking around sunflower fields. Many sunflower fields are now attractions for families to enjoy offering things like photo placements, maizes, fruit picking and cafes. While we’ve not had the best weather so far this summer, the UK is great at one thing: fruit picking, sunflower fields and lavender fields. With the help of the recent rain, there are plenty of beautiful fiends to explore across the UK. Many of these fields let you pick your own sunflowers to bring home and enjoy.

Fields like this are becoming more and more popular as each year passes. Young families like mine love supporting local businesses, getting plenty of fresh air and exploring nature. Visiting a sunflower field is the perfect family day out for children of all ages. You can explore mazes, get your steps in and support your local community. A bonus is, lots of these sunflower locations offer other attractions like petting zoos, fruit picking, kids lunches and play areas.

In my opinion, you can’t beat a sun soaked photo of your little one surrounded by huge yellow sunflowers.

My Top Sunflower Fields

Garsons Farm, Esher, Surrey

For any Surrey locals and those happy to drive to paradise, Garsons Farm offers a great chance to pick big bunches of sunflowers in their pick-your-own fields. Blooming now until the end of August now is a great time to visit this lovely farm.

Better still, make a day of it by exploring their extensive farm and seeing things like their table top strawberries, sweetcorn and full garden centre. Bonus, their farm shop has amazing foods to die for like handmade scotch eggs!

This lovely farm may be familiar to daytime TV viewers, it’s a firm favourite for Good Morning Britain weather segments & This Morning cooking segments.

Hitchin Lavender, Hertfordshire

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that Hitchin Lavender is famous for its incredible miles and miles of purple lavender fields. But in August the fields right next door are packed with beautiful long stemmed, yellow sunflowers. These stunning flowers fill the fields and are plentiful for families looking for a fun day out.

The field is open 9am to 8pm everyday giving you lots of time to explore and pick your own bunches. They have a great barn with activities and a chance to buy lots of lavender goodies in their shop.

Dogs are welcome throughout the fields as long as they are kept on leads.

Stanhill Farm, Kent

The Garden of England is home to one the UK’s most popular sunflower field and farm. Stanhill Farm is buzzing through July and August with tourists and locals looking to enjoy their breathtaking sunflower fields and farm spoils.

This lovely farm has no entry fee but you will be charged for your sunflower bunches on exit. The farm shop is a firm favourite with delicious samples on offer and plenty of yummy local foods to try. Treat yourself!

This farm is popular on the run up to Halloween for their pumpkin patches, so keep it in your diary for that!

Blooming Green, Kent

Staying in beautiful Kent, eco-friendly florist Blooming Green has an incredible display of beautiful flowers on show. Bring the whole family and fill your bucket with beautiful hand-grown sunflowers. This one is great for family photos!

Vine House Farm, Lincolnshire

Vine House Farm is a sight for sore eyes, you’ll drive right up to it and realise that you’ve stumbled upon a UK gem for sunflowers and picking your own fruit. There are over 100 acres of sunflowers on the farm each summer so you’ll have plenty of space to explore, play hide and seek and have your very own family photo shoot.

This location is super popular with locals and tourists from far and wide so be sure to book well ahead and get your spot secured before harvest begins in September.

It’s open all day and into late evening so you’ll have lots of time to get that perfect snap for the photo wall.

Cotswold Farm Park, Cheltenham

The Cotswolds is one of the most popular UK locations for summer breaks, farm adventures and picking your own fruit. Their gorgeous sunflowers are Cotswold Farm Park are no exception – with some of the most well tended to flowers, you can visit and surf in the sea of yellow sunflowers!

Bonus, you’ll also find a petting zoo perfect for little ones on your visit! Make a full day of it by visiting the sheep at the zoo, picking your own sunflowers at lunchtime and enjoying messy play before you leave.

Tulley’s Sunflowers

Here’s my top pick for the adults. Tulley’s Farm is home to over 12 acres of sunflower fields filled with gorgeously high yellow flowers. But they also offer great food and drink choices like cocktails, waffles and burgers. You can spend the whole day here enjoying the spoils while also eating and drinking as the sun goes down.
