Lockdown Layering
So, we’re still in lockdown and that’s ok. We all need to do everything that we can to ensure that we are all staying safe and supporting the NHS. And, lockdown can also means that we can experiment with new things in our beauty and skincare. This lockdown I have been experimenting with perfume layering. You may have read my recent blog post featuring The Perfume Society – this is what’s next!
What do you know about perfume layering? Do you do it often?
Perfume Layering is somewhat new to me – I recently discovered it when sampling this month’s Layering Perfume Box and since I’ve been stuck on lockdown, I’ve loved it!
Perfume Layering is a process of mixing two or more scents together to create bespoke fragrances that a re unique to yourself. Look at this way, you and I could have the exact same perfumes from the likes of Vera Wang, Marc Jacobs and Givenchy – but the way that we layer them up and with what bases – body lotions etc. they would smell different. This is how you would come up with your signature scent from layering.
Perfume Layering is not a new sensation – it’s been something of an under the radar beauty hack for many years. But this is a cool way to get experimental with your scents and give it a fresh lease of life!
I like to use a good strong, fruity base like one of these bright spritzes from Soap & Glory. These fruity scents are great to spritz on your clothes/underwear and they carry for a long time.
I then layer up with this dark and moody Decadence perfume on my neck and wrists. Having one or more scents on you at one time can really give them a boost and make them completely unique.
I love Princess from Vera Wang, it is super light and floral so it’s an easy perfume to pair with many different types of fragrances.
Being home all day and not being able to see anyone except for my amazing fiance means that I can chop and change fragrances, experiment with what works and go for a quick shower if something smells terrible.
I am trying to make positives from being stuck at home and I know that when we’re eventually allowed out again, I am gonna smell incredible!
