My favourite beauty blogging tips!

Being a beauty blogger is one of the most fun things I do, my day to day life is not so glam and so when I can escape for a few hours into LoveRosiee and all of the beauty, make up and skincare, my soul feels better! If you’re looking to create a new beauty blog or even build upon your own beauty brand, I’ve got some great tips to help you grow your brand, increase your audience and boost your engagement! Here are my favourite beauty blogging tips!

The Best Beauty Blogging Tips brought to you by LoveRosiee, beauty blogger and flatlay photographer

Social Media is your best friend!

Blogging is great, writing excellent, unique and relevant content is key but how will you let people, search engines and brands know about your amazing content? Social Media is the key!

My top tip is to ensure that you have at least a Twitter and Instagram channel set up for your beauty blog – ideally with a handle that correlates to your brand name. For example, all of my social handles use the words LoveRosiee somewhere in them to ensure my brand is fluid throughout all of my campaigns across the internet.

Social Media will be a great way for you to share your content in many different medias. I use Instagram to share the flatlay photographs of the beauty products that I am reviewing. I also use it to unbox my latest blogger mail, share my own thoughts and views via stories and engage with likeminded bloggers.

I use Twitter to chat to other bloggers, put my personal opinion out there and share my links where possible. Twitter is great for link swapping, blog comment threads, blogger chats and making new friends.

I also rate Pinterest for engagement from your audience. Pinterest is one of my main traffic drivers, so it’s not one to ignore! I use Pinterest to share my own blog assets, share pins with my latest product reviews, engage with other bloggers and to give me inspiration for where else I’d like to push LoveRosiee!

Find your niche!

I wont lie, beauty bloggers are everywhere and sometimes it can feel really daunting to try and put your stamp on the industry. Sometimes, it can feel like you’re getting nowhere and no one is seeing your content.

This is why it is so important to find your niche. It is key to find an idea that unique to you and run with it! For me, I find that sharing my opinions with flatlays and my honest (sometimes brutally so) is my niche. But, I’ve been blogging for five years and sometimes even I have a wobble.

Having a niche will help your audience understand what you’re about and, if they like it, keep coming back for more!

So, if your passion is for cosmetics or non-invasive surgery, use that as your niche and create engaging content to your hearts content!

Invest – your time and your kit!

Beauty blogging is not all free events, glam dinners and freebies to play with and share occasionally. Blogging in any niche and industry takes serious hustle! To become a successful beauty blogger, you must be able to invest your time, your resources and your kit into your cause!

Some bloggers rate getting the best, most expensive kit but I personally do not think that splurging thousands on cameras, laptops and IT directly correlates with being a success. I am proud to be a thrifty blogger – all of my photos are taken and edited on my iphone, I own a HP laptop that does everything I need easily and most of my flatlay backdrops are wallpaper samples I’ve ripped from B&Q while buying household bits!

It is key to invest in your kit but that means that you should try to hone your skills – I rarely use Photoshop, but it’s taken me years to finally crack a photography style I like as well as editing styles, fads and phases.

Learn to use your time better – blogging is usually done along side a full time job, a second job and a life. I hold down a Monday – Friday job, ad hoc evening jobs, a house, a fiance and a wedding to plan. The only reason I am able to get sleep is because I manage my time well!

Networking

Networking is SO important and it’s actually one of the more fun elements of being a successful beauty blogger! Networking and engaging is a sure-fire way to ensure that your audience are aware of you and it can seriously help you boost your following and your readership!

Social media is a great way to network with people on all levels. You can easily chat to fellow bloggers, brands and representatives in the industry and share your opinion on your own content as well as others. Blogging is a competitive world but when you scratch the surface, we’re really a nice bunch that are always happy to help if you have any issues!

You can also network at events – once we are allowed to get out there again, I know that many brands will want to celebrate by throwing launch parties and showing off the products that they’ve been working on while on lockdown. I’ve been lucky enough to attend events where I’ve interviewed Pixie Lott among other celebs. I’ve also been to full on spa day events.
While it’s great to enjoy the experience, it’s also important to work – get out there and network! Chat with the PRs you know, introduce yourself to PRs you don’t, chat with fellow bloggers and take loads of snaps to share on your socials!

These are some of my favourite beauty blogger tips – if you’re thinking of starting a blog, why not reach out and we can chat!
