Probiotic Skincare: Antipodes Review
Skincare is my bag, we all know that, don’t we!? But with 2021 comes new skincare trends. If you’ve never heard of probiotic skincare or healthy bacteria in skincare products, this post is for you. Today’s review is all about one of my favourite brands: Antipodes. A little tell-all and reveal of some brand new, exclusive products coming out this Spring!

What is Probiotic Skincare?
Probiotic creams are created from live cultures found in healthy bacteria. This bacteria contains ingredients that can help helpful germs that already live on your skin, grow. Encouraging healthy bacteria to grow will give you a more youthful, healthy and glowing appearance.
If you’re lucky enough to already look well rest, healthy and glowing (not sweating, glowing) then you may not require a probiotic in your skincare. However, the majority of us do!
Antipodes Skincare

I’ve worked with Antipodes in the past and, long story short, I can’t rate them enough. They were my breakout brand of 2020 and I pretty much abandoned all other brands in my skincare routine at the start of the first Lockdown in favour of Antipodes only.
No matter your skin type or your skincare routine, Antipodes will have something for you. I’ve always found their items to be soothing and gentle on stressed and sore skin. Their formulas are perfect – even when my skin is more combination than dry.
Antipodes Culture Probiotic Night Recovery Water Cream

This creamy and uniquely textured night cream is like nothing I’ve ever tried before. The texture is similar to a water gel, and since using it, I’ve felt the skin on my neck drinking it up with every swipe of my hands.
The one word I’d use to describe this amazingly hydrating cream is: immersive. Your skin will feel like it’s been plunged into the nicest pool of water – a facial feeling that’s both clean and gentle.
My skin instantly felt hydrated when I began using this night cream. I’d slop it on generously at first, but as with all Antipodes products, a little goes a long way!
The elasticity and general plumpness of the skin on my face and neck was recognisable within days. I didn’t look puffy, more like I’d been to a spa recently.
I do suffer with rougher patches of skin – especially when I’ve not seen the Sunshine in a while. My old acne scars show when I’m at my palest and I can feel more course around my nose and cheeks when my skin is particularly dry.
Well, within two consecutive uses, all of redness was gone. Those stubborn rough patches that I usually have to nurture with constant care and creams instantly became less angry. My skin felt and looked like that of a healthy 28 year old – dare I say it, pre-lockdown and world crisis!?
Halo Skin Brightening Mud Mask

Now you know, I love a good face mask. These days, I usually reach for a sheet mask so that I can go about my business. But that isn’t the point of skincare, is it? You’re not supposed to pamper yourself while you hoover or respond to emails are you?
Antipodes Halo mask is truly one of a kind. It is ideal for lifting out dirt and grime and soothing skin while it settles into your pores and blemishes. It is a pure delight and it calls for relaxation. You must sit on the sofa, put on your favourite tv show and let half an hour go by to let this amazing mask work its magic.
And, it is pure magic. Easy to apply, easy to remove with a damp reusable flannel or muslin. Your skin will shine and feel plumper after only one use!
Divine Face Oil: Rosehip & Avocado Oil

While I do suffer with combination skin and the oil can be like a slick, I also like to use oils in my skincare routine. Combination skin means that my T zone is oily but my cheeks are drier than the desert. It’s a tough one to get the balance right.
I’ve been using different oils on my skin, usually as part of my nighttime routine, for years now and I’m usually happy with the results.
Antipodes Divine Face Oil really is a game changer. I think it’s the natural ingredients of avocado and rosehip oil that gives it the edge over its competitors. The oil does not sit on your face or list your other skincare products out. It sinks into your skin instantly while leaving you smelling like a New Zealand orange field.
It doesn’t slick on your face and you won’t wake up looking like you’ve been hovering over a chip shop basket all night.
It’s perfect for all skin types, hardy and warms really easily. I usually let a few drops fall onto my finger tips, warm them between my hands and apply to my neck. Then I use the pipette to apply enough oil to the skin on my face. It’s loose in texture but doesn’t take a lot of working to get it into your skin.
My Thoughts On Probiotic Skincare & Antipodes

I think it’s easy to see that I am definitely a fan of probiotic skincare – if you use the right brands. Antipodes for me are 100% a winner and I am proud to be working with them again this year.
Do you focus on probiotics in your skincare routine?
What do you think of these Antipodes products?
