Unleash your inner Diva with Contact Lenses UK

If you’re anything like me, you’ll be constantly looking to change up your look! Maybe add a little colour to your hair, throw on a million rings, stick some jewels on your nails or go the whole hog and try different colour contact lenses. It’s all very Kardashian/Jenner!

But it’s something I’ve wanted to try for ages! And, why not!? The best thing about being a blogger is that I get to try out strange new things, trial and test them – and if they really don’t work, you lovely readers needn’t waste your time!

So, just as fortune would have it, I was approached by a lovely company called Coloured Lenses UK who wanted me to try out some blue contacts! Imagine my excitement!

Now, if you guys follow me on Instagram you’ll know I love a good selfie! And if you’ve ever visited my little blog before (Hello new visitors!) you’ll know that I am quite dark in features! I have very very dark almost black hair and very dark brown eyes. So, when this lovely company offered me a colour I could barely contain myself when asking for the most daring – BLUE!

I mean, if they were to look anything like the gorgeous Kardashian/Jenner clan I’d be wearing them every day! I was so excited to receive my little package and was feeling like the rebellious side in me would be tamed for at least a little while!

The look I'd hoped to achieve with my contacts!

The lovely people at Contact Lenses UK assured me my package would be with me soon, so I waited patiently and excitedly. When they turned up, I was excited to see a cute little pink case was included – a nice touch for me! This cute little pink case was to hold my contacts once I was through with them – to ensure I would be safe from infection and discomfort!

The little contacts arrived in foil packages, one in each package. From the outside, they looked quite blue but not the popping blue I was hoping for! (Starting to think I’d set my sights a little high!) I was a little scared to put them in too, so was a baby and put it off until the weekend!

As instructed by the brand, I put the contacts in before applying any make up. I do not wear contacts usually and have only actually warn contacts of any sort for Halloween so putting them in was a little daunting. I was very gentle with my eye but ended up getting frustrated – something lots of people would probably experience! It took me a good twenty minutes to get them in.

Once I had the contacts in, my eyes became very red and sore. This could be due to the fact they aren’t used to a foreign object in them and also due to the fact that it took me a lot of faffing around to finally get them in! Good job I’d followed brand instructions and not applied eye make up before hand as it would have been streaming down my face by that point!

It took my eyes maybe ten minutes to adjust and get comfortable. I have really big eyes and they did feel quite dry for the duration of the time I was wearing the contacts – again this could be down to my eyes not being used to them.

I have to say, sadly, I was not amazed by the colour difference in my eyes. As I mentioned before, I have VERY dark eyes. Sadly, it was obvious to see that although my eyes did look slightly different to normal, they didn’t look blue.

Sorry for the up-the-nose shot!

As you can see, my eyes look a slightly larger shape and with a possible green hue to them but sadly, no blue! Although a little down hearted, I carried on my day and went out for a lovely Autumn walk and ended up in the pub.

In the badly lit traditional English pub, lots of people were asking me what was different about me. They couldn’t quite put their finger on it at first. Once I’d told them I was wearing the lenses they agreed that my eyes looked very different but, again, not actually blue.

Here is a close up of my eyes with the contacts in. You can see that no blue at all is coming through but there is a slight green shade over the top of my dark browns. As I’ve said, I do have VERY dark eyes so realistically, this look was the best I could have hoped for.

Before and After

Here’s my before and after look! On the left is how dark my eyes are regularly, and on the right is my eyes with the lenses in.

Contact Lenses UK have lots of great sample photos on their great website, so I decided to do a little research. On the product that I received this is the model picture accompanied with it.

As you can see, there is a clue blue ring around the outside of this lovely lady’s brown eyes. Sadly, I think my boggle eyes just may have been to big and too dark to get the look hoped for!

With all of this in mind, I am not ready to throw out my rebellious inner girl. I love the website for Coloured Lenses UK and, more importantly, I LOVE the low price! These bad boys would only set you back £16.99 and can be worn many times over the period of a whole year! That’s a lot of bang for your buck – compared to stores where you pay substantially more for a one time wear!

This lovely brand has lots of options for colours and accessories and really want you to achieve the best look. Sadly, for me the blue look didn’t work. Next, I think I will try green and see how it affects my eye colour!

So, if you’re needing to tame your inner rebel, head to the Contact Lenses UK site here before reaching for the scissors or bleach!
