Wedding Trends For 2021 Part 2

COVID restrictions are about to be lifted completely and that means one exciting thing for us COVID brides: weddings are back on! At the end of June, I shared a post jam-packed with wedding trends for this summer and it’s safe to say you guys loved it. Today’s post is a follow on from that and it’s a good one. Get ready for a summer of love, love love!

“I Do” With No Notice

If the pandemic taught us one thing, it was to seize the day! We’ve been holed up at home, terrified to go outside for months on end. Now that some restrictions are lifting, us brides are eager to say “I Do” as quickly as possible.

In my last post, I wrote about an uptick in weekday weddings. Well, following July 19th and so-called “freedom day”, get ready for invites to weddings with basically no notice at all.

As guests, we’ll need to be flexible and jump at the opportunities to celebrate the beautiful union when we can. Don’t worry, you’ve probably got plenty of unused annual leave to cover a few days off!

Concept Lighting

Weddings this year will be outside when and where they can. We need to keep people safe and keep them at a safe distance. But outside weddings don’t have to be chilly, damp, or drab.

2021 is all about concept lighting. Think over the top light bulbs dangling over the bride and groom as they eat their wedding breakfast. All the fairy lights in the county draped romantically over the bar and backdrops. Lighting creates the mood and gives that glamour to outdoor weddings.

An Abundance Of Treats

Following the last 18 months, we all deserve a treat, don’t we? It’s true that weddings will be a little more streamlined this summer due to venue restrictions but that does mean that the wedding budget can be spent treating the guests we choose to join us on our big days.

The summer weddings you go to this year will have an abundance of treats: sweet treats, personalised treats, donut walls, flower stations, photo booths, you name it, you’ll see it!

I personally am a fan of a flower wall and a donut wall. I love the way that Americans have their weddings with a cocktail hour. This girl is all for treats, treats, and more treats this wedding season!

Live Streaming Vows

Sadly, not all of our guest list can join us on our big days. Thankfully we’ve all embraced live streaming, video chats, and apps that allow you to chat in a “room” with your friends and family.

Be ready to hold up your phone and live stream the important bits on your phone for those that can’t join in on the fun in person.

Going Hollywood Glam

How long did you spend in sweat pants with a bun at the top of your head last year? I’ve still not yet ventured into any kind of non-elastic bottoms but I’m loving real clothes.

Honestly, I don’t think I wore proper makeup for months in 2020. But for my wedding, I am going full Hollywood glam! I am going to get the look to make up for all of those make-up free days last year.

Don’t be surprised to see brides looking full-on glam this summer. Even their hair and hairpieces will be over the top in the best possible way!
