2021 Beauty Trend: Skinimalism

Want to relax your skincare and beauty regime while also reaping the benefits of the newest and hottest beauty trend of 2021? If this sounds like you, you’re going to love Skinimalism. Use fewer products, zone in on the areas you want to look best and become more sustainble. Introducing my favourite 2021 beauty trend.

What Is Skinimalism?

Skinimalism isn’t brand new for 2021, skincare brands and those with their ear to the grand were shouting about this last summer.

In very basic terms, Skinimalism is the act of adopting more relaxed skincare and beauty routines that focus on using less products, less waste and a more targeted approach to looking gorgeous in a natural way. It is championed because it encourages people to spend less on make up and skincare products and embracing diverse products that work across different areas of your skincare.

The motto of Skinimalism is: less is best!

How To Achieve Gorgeous Skinimalism

If you’re time poor or you’re not one for long, drawn out skincare routines every morning, noon and night, you’ll love this.

You can achieve Skinimalism by ditching long routines in favour of multi-use products that keep your skin hydrated, happy and clean.

It does what it says on the tin: be minimalist with your approach. The days of caked on make up, layers upon layers of products and bright glitters are over.

It’s all about looking ready to go at the drop of a hat and making it look effortlessly chic. Simplicity and sustainablity go hand in hand, so it’s definitely got my vote!

My Top Skinimalistic Products

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

This cleansing balm is so soothing to my sensitive skin and perfect for sun kissed skin that needs a little extra protection. Because the balm reaches deep into the layers of your skin, you’ll be able to use this as a base and go.

This balm will give you hydration and a glow. When I use this cleaner balm, I’ll brush my brows out and put on a layer of lip balm. Perfect for long summer days in the sun!

The Ordinary Niacinamide Serum

If you want to smooth out for blemishes and blur your skin like all of the Instagram filters, you’ll need this serum every day and every night!

I love The Ordinary – a tiny bit goes a long way and it’s easy on the purse strings. This serum helps reduce inflammation and breakouts which is excellent for a skincare trend that favours a minimalist look.

REN Clean Skincare Clean Screen Mineral SPF30

I love Ren as a skincare brand, I worked with them around this time last year and I’ve repurchased every single item since then.

SPF is super important in your skincare as I’ve documented recently and this moisturizer is a dream. It goes on easily, it’s thick but not gloopy, it settles without being chalky and it smells amazing.

Sun protection is your number one!

Les Beiges Bronzing Cream, Chanel

When it comes to skinimalism, it’s important to apply make up that suits your skin. If you’re layering make up on that doesn’t even match your skin, the look wont work.

I recently purchased this amazing bronzer cream from Chanel and now that the sun has blessed my face with some colour, this cream looks gorgeous on me. It doesn’t add any kind of false look to your face, it simply deepens your colour and gives you that glow!

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

Concealing any blemishes, red areas or breakouts is an important step of skinimalism. Also, even though I’m usually all for embracing my skin, I often want to cover up areas that make me self conscious.

This Nars concealer is the only one I’ll buy. It’s perfect for my skin and I love to use it even without foundation.

What do you think about skinimalism?

Is it a trend you’ll be trying out this summer?
