5 Things ALL Bloggers Need For Successful Outreach
I’ll be real with you all, I work in blogger outreach on behalf of brands, I am a blogger (obviously) and I look at blogs all day long. While I absolutely love what I do, I am constantly tweeting and screaming out for us bloggers to make life easier. For themselves and for the brands that are desperate to work with you. So, after some very popular tweets, I’ve decided to put together a quick and easy guide with the 5 things you NEED on your blog for successful outreach!

1. Put Your Email Address EVERYWHERE – But Most Importantly, In Your Side Bar
When I’m looking for a blogger’s details, I don’t want to click here, there, and everywhere. Believe me when I say, if I have to go more than 3 clicks, I’ll often move on and not come back. Also, other outreachers (like me) will note that your contact information is hard to find and never bother looking at your blog again.
Seriously.
My first, and probably most important piece of advice to all bloggers is, put your email address in your sidebar. Put it on your landing page.
Have it EVERYWHERE. Make it clickable, make it a direct URL and make it clear.
There’s actually nothing wrong with having it in too many places!
Do this and watch the opportunities roll in!

2. Add A Search Bar To Your Blog
How many times have you gone on to a blog looking for something in particular and not be able to find it? Then what do you do? You do your best to search through old posts and then, eventually and inevitably, you give up.
It happens to brands and platforms looking for specifics too.
Adding a search bar to your blog will change the game for you. And, you’ll be able to use the searches as information to help you edit and audit your site so that it is easier to use.
Add a search bar to your main landing pages and on all posts. It doesn’t have to be invasive or overpowering. Mine is simply in my sidebar and at the bottom of all of your blog posts.
You’d be surprised just how many users use it every single day!

3. Add A “Contact” Page With Link To Your Navigation
As I said, there are never enough places for you to have your email address and contact details.
Make sure your blog has a “contact” page with a clear link in your blog’s header or navigation.
Ease of access but also the ability to have every single way to contact you in one place is the way to go.
Make your link to your contact page obvious and use your navigation to your advantage.

4. Social Media Buttons Are Your Best Friend
When I look for bloggers to work with, I am thorough. I look at everything: social media, engagement, comments, DA, link history. You name it, I’m trying to find it.
If I can’t find your blog’s social media profiles it is excruciating. I want a whole, rounded picture of the person I want to work with or recommend to a brand. And, honestly, if I can’t see your socials, I can’t do that and you’ll miss out on amazing opportunities.
I’m not looking for thousands and thousands of followers – hello, look at my socials. But I am looking for ease of access, clever marketing, and how often you update them.
Social media and blogging go hand in hand and more and more brands want copy written alongside social media content. Hey, some brands want only social media coverage.
Your social media buttons take no time at all to add to your site. You can use countless free plugins and a lot of the time, they come as part of your template.
Don’t miss out on opportunities because you’ve missed a link or two.

5. Create A Stylised Media Kit & Put It EVERYWHERE!
My final point is a simple one. Get yourself a media kit and publish it on your blog, in a blog post, in your sidebar, in your footer, add a link to your navigation and schedule it in your social media posts. Hell, even add it as a highlight to your social media channels.
Your media kit is your blog’s business card.
I send it out to brands as cold outreach. A direct link to it goes in the footer of all my emails. I remind brands that it exists by reminding them in general conversations. I even ask brands if they’d like to be featured.
Get your media kit created, brand it up with your logo and tone and it get out there!

Do these 5 simple things and watch your blogging success grow overnight!
What other things do you think are needed on your blog?
