Autumn Nail Art Ideas & Inspo

Back when I started LoveRosiee, I wanted it to be a channel for me to share my own nail art designs and fails. Hop, skip and a jump five years later and it’s so much more than that. But today, I wanted to share some of my own Autumn nail art ideas and inspiration with you – all really easy to do at home!

Autumn Nail Art Ideas & Inspo

Animal Print

Animal print nails are some of my favourites – both to look at and to create. It’s really not hard to get creative with different colours and prints and I often find that the messier I’ve made the style, the better it looks! Let’s face it, animal print isn’t uniform and it isn’t perfect. In fact, it’s perfectly imperfect. So you can get away with not being super neat!

Cow print nails

These are particularly easy to execute with the correct tools.

Here is how this look is achieved:

  1. File and shape nails to your desired length & shape
  2. Use a strong base coat to ensure that the product wont slide off – I like this one from Mavala
  3. Apply 2 thin layers of white polish – making sure to have each layer dry before applying the next. Apply in thin layers to discourage bubbles and lumps forming
  4. Once the second white layer is completely dry, apply the Mavala base coat one again
  5. Using a dotter (I have this set) or the end of a kirby grip, gently apply small dots using black polish to your nails. Keep the dots small to start with and build them out – you can always add more but it’s far more difficult to take away
  6. I like to do this freehand and add dots, longer shapes, smaller circles and lines to give the look real texture
  7. Once you’re happy with the cow print design and it’s 100% dry, at a good quality top coat and dry
Animal print nails

Leopard/Animal nails

These are easy and are super chic. I like to mix it up by not always doing a full set as animal print and I also like to change up the colours. For this set, I went for classic leopard colours of muted yellows, browns and blacks. I paired it with muted pinks to surround it and make it pop.

The method for applying this look is almost identical to cow print – however, instead of applying dots and lines, I prefer to make irregular shapes that curl around, like a lowercase “c”. I then make it thicker on one side and thin it out to make it look like animal print.

red glittery nails

Loose Glitter

For the festive season, I like to really go crazy with the loose glitter. You can buy little vials of glitter that can be added to your nails by simply applying a light layer of clear polish and dabbing on the glitter sparingly. It’s much easier than it sounds!

To achieve this look:

  1. Follow steps 1 & 2 from above
  2. Apply two thin layers of any desired colour – here I went for Mavala’s Bordeux
  3. Once the second layer is completely dry, add a very thin layer of clear polish to the areas you’d like glitter to stick to
  4. With a sponge (sponges work better than tissue or any other items, in my opinion) lightly dab on loose glitter to the moist areas of your nails
  5. You can use this sponge/dabbing technique to build ad apply the glitter to your own wants – and with glitter, more is more!

Dripping Blood Effect

If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen this look in a tutorial style Reel.

For this look, I used a mix of loose glitter and my dotters to achieve the look of dripping blood – perfect for Halloween!

To get the dripping blood look:

  1. Follow steps 1-3 from above
  2. Once the white layer has completely dried, use a dotter of medium size to plant three blobs of striking red onto your nail, about 2/3 of the way down towards the end of your finger
  3. Then, use the dotter and a generous amount of red polish to drag the polish up and give it that dripping effect
  4. add splashes/dots/flicks for a really gory effect
  5. Less is more with this look and, again, there is no need to inform the neat police – blood doesn’t drip in a uniform way!
