How To Create A Calm Bedroom With DUSK

In my house, the heart of the home is split into two rooms: the kitchen and my bedroom. Both rooms serve different purposes. One is for our guests, entertaining and fun. The other is for just my husband and myself, it’s intimate and private. Since the birth of our beautiful baby Jack earlier this year, it’s also become something of a sanctuary and a room I now spent even more time in.

Our bedroom is my haven, it’s where we rest, spend time together laughing and snoozing and where my son sleeps safely next to us. This room needs to be calm, cool and welcoming and with the help of DUSK, it’s exactly that! Today’s blog post is all about how you can create a calm bedroom with DUSK – enjoy!

Invest In Top Quality Bed Linen

You spend so many hours of your life sleeping and in your bed so why would you skimp on the stuff you sleep in? It just doesn’t make sense.

Sleep is so important and a great way to get a good night’s sleep and get a calm vibe in your room is to invest in some amazing quality bed linen.

DUSK can give that to you without breaking the bank.

I opted for the Portofino bed set (check out more on my Instagram here) and I have zero regrets. It is thick and luxurious while also being totally breathable and light. The only stress in the night comes from a wrestle for more covers with my husband!

The Portofino is my number one pick from the entire bed collection from DUSK – what do you think?

Keep Your Sleeping Space Tidy

I am THAT person who hates coffee tables, bedside tables and anything that encourages clutter. I don’t have bedside tables in my bedroom, it’s all very minimalist and everything has a place to live that is tucked away out of eye line.

I can’t relax and definitely cannot sleep if my space is messy or full of clutter or bits and bobs. This is tough with a newborn who comes with an insane amount of stuff just to get them to fall aslep.

I keep my sleep haven calm by trying to keep it as tidy and mess-free as possible.

Dirty washing is banished to the wash basket, breastfeeding snacks are hidden out of view, the TV control is popped up above the bed and blankets are draped rather than thrown on the bed.

I adore the DUSK minimalist vibe, their website is full of bedroom inspiration and the Epsom range is a great example of this!

Invest In A Sleep Spray

If you’ve visited my blog before, you’ll know that I rave about a good quality sleep spray. That spritz of lavender on my pillow and PJs is enough to ensure that I drift off peacefully and sleep all the way through the night.

Now that I have a newborn, that spray is like my sanctuary. I use an adult one for me and a baby version for my baby and he sleeps soundly… for at least 30 minutes!

Filling my room with sprays and candles that encourage calm is a game changer.

Have A Bed Time Routine & Stick To It

I am a creature of habit, I thrive in routine and love a good bedtime routine.

I try to do the same thing each night to ensure that my body knows that it’s time to wind down and switch off.

Here is my bedtime routine:

  • quick body shower/bath (if I have time – fleeting with a new baby but we move)
  • get into snuggly pjs and keep warm
  • watch a funny TV show that requires minimal brain power – Taskmaster or Family Guy are my current favourites
  • light a lavendar candle and wind down
  • spritz my bedding and PJs with my sleep spray
  • get into bed at roughly the same time each night
  • put the TV on a timer to switch itself off by a certain time – more often than not, I’ve already drifted off by then so am none the wiser
  • switch my phone to do not disturb
  • sleep

Doing the same thing every night helps my body wind down and get ready for a restful night’s sleep – it works for me!

Your sleep is so important, make sure you get the most from it with the help of DUSK!

I can’t rate their products enough – I am officially a DUSK addict!
