Sometimes it all gets a bit too much. You’ve got so much noise in your head with thoughts swirling around like crazy, and you just want it to stop. These thoughts and feelings weigh down on you and make you feel overburdened – but here are some small daily rituals that will start easing things and improve your mental health.
Dedicate A Portion Of No Phone Time To Each Day
Phones are great devices, and you might be using yours to read right now, but they are infecting our minds and causing huge problems to our mental health. It’s simply not healthy to sit and stare at your phone for many hours a day. You won’t be able to cut out this habit completely – and no one will tell you you should – but start dedicating time to each day where you don’t go on your phone.
Spend this time reading a book, journaling, or doing one of the other things on the list below.
Help Yourself Relax With A Soothing Beverage
A hot drink can be all you need to settle down and quiet your busy mind. Certain drinks are really good at this because they help you relax even more. Lavender or chamomile teas are the perfect examples of this, utilising the natural benefits of these plants to help your brain switch off.
Mushroom drinks have also become popular for this, mainly because there’s a lot of research into magic mushroom spores and their proposed health benefits. If you really struggle with your mental health and need some quiet time, this could be a great idea – as could CBD drinks.
Meditate For Two Minutes Every Morning & Evening
Spend two minutes meditating and focusing on your breathing when you wake up each morning. It’s the perfect way to start your day because you can calm your mind and feel like you’re getting a fresh beginning. There’s an art to meditation – it’s more than just sitting down, breathing and closing your eyes – so make sure you practice and become comfortable. You want this to have an impact, not send you back to sleep.
However, you should also meditate before bed in the evenings because it can calm you down and stop those loud thoughts from keeping you awake. A couple of minutes of meditation can be all it takes to help you settle down and drift off.
Go Outside And Take A Proper Nature Walk
Walking is truly one of the best things you can do to look after your health. Make a proper nature walk part of your daily routine to unclog your mind, relax and enjoy the world around you. What is a “proper” nature walk? It’s a walk that doesn’t include any distractions – like your phone, a podcast or even music. You should unplug and walk around in the fresh air for half an hour or so. It’s great for your mental, but also amazing for your physical health.
These little rituals won’t take up much time on your daily schedule, yet have a positive impact on your life. Try adding them in one day at a time until you’re comfortable following them all every day.
