I’ve done extensive research to help give you my best predictions for baby names in 2024.

Surnames As First Names

American baby name consultants are predicting that parents to be Stateside will shift traditions and start using more surnames as first names. This will continue to boost the use of gender neutral names too. More Americans are picking and sticking to a name pre-birth without knowing their baby’s gender. Gender neutral names and surnames are first names work for one in the same purpose.

I am predicting our American cousins will create an influx of Fishers, Carters, Huxleys, Sumnalls and Ridleys next year.

While this may be just a trend for America in early 2024, by the end of the year, I am predicting more of this style of naming landing on our home shores.

A Return Of Classic Names

For me, the classics are always the best. My son is called Jack. It’s a name we’ve loved for many years and while it is common it’s also a perfect name for him. It’s classic!

My predictions for baby names in 2024 is that we’ll see more of these classic return – along with some more old school names too.

I’m seeing lots of old school girls names like Annie, Cecelia and Maggie coming up in my research. For boys, there are lots of Rupert, Archie and Wilf.

I think that parents will want to avoid having similar names when their little ones get to school so it’ll be classic but not too common.

Quiet Luxury Vibes

The love of gender neutrality and changing traditional gender for names will continue. We’ll be seeing Noa for girls and Noah for boys. There will be more female Arlo’s in 2024. I also think that River will be used for both boys and girls next year.

The Royals usually play a role in how we name our babies and I think the luxury of Royal names will be a big influence. Names like Elizabeth, Charles, William and George will be ever-popular. Betty will be super popular which I love!

New parents will want to tap into that timeless, classic, quiet luxury when naming their new additions.
