5 Habits You Need In Your Beauty Routine

Beauty, whether you are in your teens, older or a veteran, is something that we can all share – no matter our gender! Beauty is something that I talk about a lot on this channel, and while I wouldn’t say that I am beautiful, I know how to make myself look nice with the tools that I’ve got and the five rules that I follow! Check out my 5 habits you need in your beauty routine!

1. Always remove your make up

Guys, I’m 28 now and I’ve been as guilty as everyone else at not removing my make up before bed. There’s actually no real reason for it except the fact that I am the laziest person you could ever meet!

But, when I remove my make up before bed, I tend to use a Micellar cleanser/water (my current and long-time favourite is Nivea) to wipe off all of make up thoroughly. And when I do, my skin literally shines!

It’s easier to beautify myself the next day, my skin feels even and, although I have combination skin, make up application and glow is on point.

If you do not remove your make up before bed, you’re literally forcing the grime, dirt and build up to smush into your face. Your pillow will be dirty and you’ll simply put that dirt back into your face every single night until you change your bed sheets!

Remove your make up guys, your skin will thank you for it!

2. Exfoliate

If you saw my recent posts on beauty habits to follow, you will know what my skincare regime is and how often I exfoliate.

Exfoliation is so important to ensure that your skin is happy, healthy and even. When it comes to make up application, you will need to ensure that you have scrubbed away the dirt and grime build up.

If, like me, you suffer with a build up on your T zone, there is no better feeling than scrubbing away that dirt! I dedicate some real time a week to scrub away at my T zone and it shows in my make up application!

3. Use a primer

My beauty life actually changed (not even being dramatic) when I was introduced to one particular primer! I’ve used primers and skin preparation tools since I was applying make up as a teenager, but when I worked with Nars and sampled their Radiance Primer SPF 35, my beauty regime changed!

A primer such as this has worked for me because it compliments my skin perfectly. I have combination skin which means that it is oily in certain areas and super dry and flaky in others. This primer from Nars compliments my skin perfectly, it’s light and airy but sturdy and really gets to work.

It smooths my skin which means any make up that is applied on top is done so evenly, flawlessly and easily!

4. Do your research

The days of walking into Superdrug and then Boots, and now Sephora when I’m Stateside are, sadly, a thing of the past right now. I used to love spending my Saturday wondering around Windsor town centre and swatching make up to my hearts content.

What started with Revlon and Maybelline soon became Nars, Estee Lauder and Marc Jacobs. But my make up application comes now from lots of trial and error, and many make up fails!

It’s so important to do your research, if you can swatch and try your new beauty brands on your skin, do it! You don’t have to break the bank, but try it all!

5. Bin it!

Did you know that your make up has an expiration date? Did you know that it is much sooner than you thought? Did you know that once you open your make up, you need to use it or you will lost it?

Yep, you need to be doing a beauty audit! You need to go through your beauty bits and bin anything that is out of date. These out of date items could be doing your skin damage and making your beauty application pointless!

If it’s too old, bin it!
