How To Build Engaging Pins For Pinterest
Pinterest is king right now, well, it has been for a while now. But I am confident that lockdown has forced people to use Pinterest for the better and lots of us are now reaping the benefits of this. My pin game has definitely improved and now I am asked on a daily basis how I get it done and what hacks can be used. I’ve shared loads of tips on how to grow your blog with Pinterest and today I am sharing how to build engaging pins for Pinterest.

The Basics
Before you can start building pins for your Pinterest acquisition, you need to ensure that your content is not only accessible but also relevant and adds value to the reader. My helpful/tip style blog posts always convert better than my product review posts – this is because my audience are likely to learn something from my helpful posts. A lot of my most engaging pins are focused on growing your blog, social media and earning money through blogging. I also have high performing pins that center around beauty and skincare tutorials.
So, go back to basics and make sure that the content you plan to pin will be worth the hard work.
One huge basic is asset collection. To build your pins you will need the following things:
– an account with a pin builder like Canva or PicMonkey, Photoshop, Photopea etc.
– a library of photos to use to represent your brand – I use a mix of my own photos and free stock photos from Unsplash
– an active Pinterest account that you can save pins to.
– while you won’t need a massive creative flare, patience and some creativity will help you to get the job done!
The Power Of Titles
Every blogger will know how much of a pain it can be to come up with a catchy blog title. The goal of this is to entice people to find your blog, receive value from the article and return for more.
There is also an SEO benefit to having catchy titles.
If your blog post has a keyword rich title along with keyword rich, valuable and relevant content within the blog post (not to mention the relevance of your H tags, meta tags, titles and keywords) then it is likely to rank highly on search engines. This means that more people will be able to find your channel and enjoy what you have to offer.
Catchy titles are also key for highly engaging pins. If the title of your pin is watery and boring, it’s likely that the people seeing it won’t click on it and give you that lucrative pin, save and page view. Your pin titles should be something that will entice your audience to click and learn more. I tend to follow these title themes:
– How To Do XXX
– 5 Ways To XXX
– The Best Way To XXX
– The Best Tips For XXX
These titles pique the interest of your audience and increase the chance of your pin being clicked and saved.
Images & Brand Representation
Pins are visual by nature. They are a tiny pinnable piece of content that can be accessed across all devices – I personally use pinterest on my phone around 90% of the time, I only really use my laptop/tablet for the bulk scheduled upload of pins when physically blogging.
For pins to be engaging, they must be of good quality, the visuals must represent your brand as much as possible and they must have images that entice your audience.
Ask yourself, as a blogger, blog reader and Pinterest user, which pins are you more likely to pin and save to your own boards? I love classy photography for my wedding board, infographics for my blogging boards, instagram template style pins for my social media boards. Because of this, I know how I’d like my own pins to look!
I use a mix of my own images and good quality stock images to keep my content fresh!
When I want to refresh a Pin, I always go to Design Bundles – they’ve got great inspiration boards and huge sales that will help you grow. I love them for seasonal assets like this new year clipart
My wedding pins seem to perform really well but since my own wedding was postponed multiple times, I have limited images and assets that I can use. My pick for this is, of course, Design Bundles. Their wedding clipart is perfect for my Pinterest audience who want everything wedding and bridal.

Engagement & Your Audience
Pinterest is an incredible engine, there are very few flaws and it does give you everything that you may need to ensure your acquisition is as sharp as possible.
You can easily access your pin analytics, your engagement and your reach on a single pin basis, a board basis and an over basis too. To be able to understand the your pin performance, you will need to use these analytics as a guide!
These metrics will show you when your audience is the most engaged, whether a particular pin has gone viral or if your latest pins have absolutely bommed.
You must engage with Pinterest, upload your pins, save other people’s pins, create boards that are relevant to you and your channel. Be on Pinterest. That is how you will get growth.
The more you use Pinterest, the more you will see which pin do well for yourself but also which pins drive you to click, pin and save! Use this as an ongoing inspiration project to keep your pins building, becoming more creative and engaging!
Pinterest could be your best and biggest tool for blog growth, so don’t neglect it!
