What are the most reliable make up review sites?

As a beauty blogger, blogging for going on five years, I spend a LOT of my time trawling the internet looking for genuine reviews of the new make up that I want to spend my hard-earned cash on. Search engines, social media and word of mouth can be helpful to point you in the right direction, but it can also be a bit of a minefield. And, if you’re anything like me, you’ll end up falling down a rabbit hole and losing hours of your life! So, today, I’ve put together a list of the most reliable make up review sites to help you find exactly what you’re after!

Beauty Review Sites

Make Up Alley

Make Up Alley make beauty reviews simple! If I want to do a very quick search of a new bronzer, for example, I always jump onto Make Up Alley and search for the product using their handy search bar. Their filters are great for organising your search per things like skin type, hair colour and even eye colour/shade.
This is really helpful as it will give an overview of a certain product for different skin types, which means that before you buy, you’ll be able to understand whether the product is a perfect match for your skin type!

Total Beauty Reviews

Total Beauty offers a great review opportunity for loads of your beauty product needs. It’s super easy to use and navigate and is completely objective in every one of their reviews which can make for good, straight down the line content. They do not offer the same filtering features as Make Up Alley but if I’ve already got a good idea of the product I want to buy, a quick snoop on Total Beauty Reviews can either seal the deal or keep me in the money!

Allure

Allure is definitely a one-stop-shop for reviews, not only do they create their own objective reviews, they also use beauty bloggers from all across the industry to share their knowledge, insight and opinion.
Usually, if one of my favourite beauty bloggers gives their nod to a product I am after, it’s in my online basket and bought before you can say oops!
I love the set up from Allure, I am very much a visual person and seeing gifs, videos and images of the products being used gives me an even better idea of how they will feel on me when they arrive on my doorstep!

Beautypedia

When I was younger, I used Beautypedia like some would use Wiki! It’s so easy to use and I often find myself using their brand focus options to read up on an entire range from a specific brand and then treating myself a little more than I’d originally planned. I trust Beautypedia’s reviews and always look to them when putting together a wish list for a specific brand!

Caroline Hirons

With her new book just hitting our online baskets, I cannot get enough of Caroline Hirons straight talking views on skincare and beauty products. She’s famously got many years in the industry under her belt and her style of reviewing really suits my personal and shopping needs. I always feel that with Caroline’s reviews, I’ll never end up wasting my money or regretting my purchase!

Cult Beauty Blog

Cult Beauty is, obviously, a great place to purchase beauty but I love the way that they celebrate brands across the beauty and skincare industry that cover all budgets! They share lots of insight in the form of articles as well as sharing some of their favourite beauty review bloggers – it’s the place to look for genuine opinions across loads of different lifestyles.

The Anna Edit

I have been following Anna on her blogging journey since before LoveRosiee was created, so a long time! I trust her wholly when it comes to high end beauty – something I rarely treat myself to, but when I do, I want to make sure I am making an investment!

Her style of writing really suits the way my brain computes consumerism and her style makes me envy with every single blog post! When Anna reviews something, the depth and research that she shares is crazy, it’s something I strive to do as a micro beauty influencer!

Fleur De Force

When I first started blogging, I literally had an obsession with Fleur. I love her photography style, her review narrative and her personality that is neatly threaded through every single post. You never feel like you’re being sold something with Fleur’s channels and I like that. Often, review sites and huge bloggers can often miss that personable writing style that once made them so successful, Fleur is not lacking that at all!
