Celebrate King Charles III Coronation – Food Edition

The Coronation Quiche has taken the news world by storm, it’s safe to say that it’s put a few people in a spin. With the Coronation of King Charles coming up, I wanted to dedicate today’s post to the ways you can celebrate this huge historical event with food! Celebrate a new monarchy and a newreign of King Charles and fill your face. Check out my Windsor must-visits too!

Tesco

I am a big lover of coronation chicken, it’s quintessentially British and my go-to summer sandwich filler. Tesco are celebrating the coronation by releasing a limited edition Tesco Finest Coronation King Prawn sandwich alongside a Coronation Chicken offering.

Tesco are also going for sweet treats. With a new release of a Coronation tin of all-butter shortbread petticoat tails you’ll love them. As well as a limited-edition raspberry and peach bellini trifle and a classic Victoria sponge celebration cake.

I plan to spend my coronation weekend trying lots of English classics in mini Afternoon Tea style sittings. I can’t wait to try these – who doesn’t love a Vicky Sponge?

In addition to these foodie bits, Tesco are also releasing some lovely keepsakes. These include a coronation-inspired teapot, a cup and saucer, a mug. Glassware includes a stemless glass, serving plates, a cake stand and cake tins, oven gloves and tea towels. Prices range from £3.50 to £12.

Sensations

When it comes to flavours and my top picks, I always opt for Sensations! In honour of the coronation, Walker’s Sensations are releasing three new, limited edition flavours:

Regal Lamb & Mint
King Prawn Cocktail
Thai Sweet Chilli

These will make the perfect accompaniment to my coronation picnic at home!

Waitrose

Never one to be outdone, Waitrose are releasing an afternoon tea selection. This pack features a chocolate Jewel the Jack Russell cake, all-butter scones with Coronation mixed berry and Bramley apple preserve, and Duchy Organic all-butter shortbread biscuits that have been embossed with a crown.

It also includes a pack of delicious sounding teas including Duchy Organic Assam and a dedicated coronation caddy. A £15 King’s Coronation bouquet will also be available with flowers in jewel tones, including British tulips from its Foundation farms in Kenya.

Cadbury

When you think of Britain and chocolate, only one brand comes to mind. Cadbury. This iconic brand are releasing an entire coronation range that includes Orange Cream, Chocolate Cream & Peppermint Cream.

I, for one, cannot wait to find these and dive into them with a cuppa as I watch the royals on their famous procession.

Morrisons

One supermarket going ALL out to celebrate King Charles III coronation is Morrisons. They have a dedicated online shop filled with goodies to buy, recipes to try and inspiration for the big weekend.

From afternoon tea treats including coronation cupcakes and scones to picnic and party food perfect for long, May day weekend!

My personal favourites are the coronation cookie, special bunting and coronation flowers!

Marks & Spencer

My favourite supermarket for all occasions. Marks and Spencer are pulling out the stops for the coronation of King Charles III.

Their range not only offers delicious food but also clothing for adults & children and homeware and beauty bits. The Royal Afternoon Tea hamper is my personal favourite. It is an elegant wicker basket filled with light Victoria sandwiches, chocolatey mini King Colin cakes and perfectly baked plain scones.

If you’re feeling lazy and want to minimise any prepping for your very own coronation party, you can order the classic sandwich selection.

You’ll get prawn mayonnaise, roast chicken and bacon; bacon, lettuce and tomato; cheese and onion; free range egg mayonnaise and smoked ham and mustard mayonnaise sandwiches.

Pimm’s

Nothing says summer get together quite like Pimm’s.

My favourite summer tipple are releasing a limited edition coronation version. Perfect for celebrating the Coronation with.. Pimm’s No.1 is made from a closely guarded recipe. Fill a glass or a jug with lots of ice and mix 1 part Pimm’s No.1 with 3 parts lemonade. Serve with strawberries, oranges, cucumber and mint.

The Gourmet Chocolate Pizza Company

One of my favourite brands for pure chocolate indulgence and a real treat. Many of my friends will have received chocolate treats from The Gourmet Chocolate Pizza Company via the post as a thank you from me.

If you want to die and go to chocolate heaven you’ll need to try their new coronation pizza.

Each pizza comes in either seven or ten inches and is made with delicate Belgian milk chocolate. The perfect accompaniment to a post-afternoon tea haze!
