Football Games To Watch This Winter
Since getting together with my husband just less than ten years ago, I’ve endured plenty of football. But it’s not just football. It’s dates planned around big games, Boxing Day enjoyed with a TV on in the background, and my May birthday being overshadowed slightly by the league final. I used to hate it, I won’t lie. These days, I’ve changed it up – instead of enduring football matches, I’ve decided to take them into my own hands. Here are my top football games to watch this winter and my tips on how to make it enjoyable for everyone!
Football Games To Get Excited About
Newcastle vs Brentford – Saturday 20th November, 3pm
Newcastle Football Club has recently had a change-up in management and a huge injection of money. I’m told that this team is now one to watch for the rest of the season. Their performance will well and truly be under the microscope and you can join the sect of people either loving their transformation or enjoying their downfall.
Chelsea v Manchester United – Sunday 28th November, 4:30pm
My wonderful new husband is a very passionate Manchester United fan and has been since he was a kid.
The day that Ronaldo went back to Manchester, he genuinely told me it was the best news he’d heard all year and it was better than his birthday. He really loves his team that much!
This will be a big game in my house – needless to say, there will be football shirts on our backs, beers and (alcohol-free for me) drinks in hand and sore throats by the end of it.
As a Man Utd fan, he’s also an avid Chelsea hater – after all these years, I’m still not quite sure why but we move. The tension will be high, the shouts will be loud and the snacks will be gobbled up!
Everton v Liverpool – Wednesday 1st December, 8:15pm
A local derby is just what is needed to get people all fired up in my house, let me tell you! December is usually when the football season ramps up so while I’m taking over the living room floor with gift wrapping and Christmas card writing, the football is on in the background and a very happy man is clapping and hollering away.
This game is sure to be a big one – both teams have fiercely loyal fans and players which should make for a good, entertaining watch. I’ll be hoping for a high-scoring game this weeknight, let me tell you!

Charcuterie Boards
Very on-trend, these delicious boards are filled with amazing treats and can be made into sweet do-it-yourself desserts or Italian themed delicious nibbles. I am a nibbler – when the sport is on the TV, I love getting nibbles out for everyone who is over. That means crisps, nuts, olives, cheeses, and crackers.
Nibble food and charcuterie boards are ideal for football games because you can pick little bits of food without ever having to take your eye off the TV!
I am obsessed with Windsor Kitchen’s incredible platters – I’m even considering using them for my baby shower!
Cocktails & Mocktails
Football and casual drinking go hand in hand – at least they do in my house! Spoiler alert, I’m on the soft stuff until early next year, but you can read more on that in a very special life update soon!
When big football games are on, I become the hostess with the mostest and queen barmaid! I mix, I scoop, I serve and I jump in for all of the big goals!
It’s super easy to do fun cocktails at home – I like to use Funkin Cocktails for their easy-to-use mixers and great flavours. The best thing about Funkin? No one knows you’ve cheated and the cocktails and mocktails taste great!
