Hey, pancake pals! With Pancake Day (or Shrove Tuesday) just around the corner, it’s time to whip out those frying pans and get flipping! But, why should the adults have all the fun? Let’s make this Pancake Day a memorable one for our little ones too! I’ve got some fantastic ideas and activities lined up that’ll have your toddlers flipping with joy!
Mini Pancake Decorating Party
I love this idea for Jack, he is a great little sous chef. Set up a mini pancake decorating station with bowls of toppings like berries, sugar, chocolate chips, sprinkles, and whipped cream. Let your toddlers get creative and decorate their own mini pancakes. It’s a tasty and interactive activity that’ll keep them entertained!
Pancake Art
Who says pancakes can’t be a canvas? Use squeeze bottles filled with pancake batter to create fun shapes and designs on the frying pan. Let your toddlers help squeeze out the batter and watch as their creations come to life! From hearts to smiley faces, the possibilities are endless!
Pancake Picnic
We’ve been blessed with gorgeous weather in Windsor. So, why not take your pancake party outdoors and have a pancake picnic in the garden or local park. Pack a blanket, some delicious toppings, and a stack of freshly made pancakes. It’s the perfect way to enjoy the fresh air and indulge in some pancake goodness.
We love this one especially because we are big fresh air lovers. Any chance to get our coats on and head to the park is a win for us.
Pancake Story Time
Combine Pancake Day with story time by reading fun pancake-themed books like “If You Give a Pig a Pancake” or “Pancakes, Pancakes!” while enjoying a stack of pancakes together. It’s a cosy and educational way to celebrate the day!
We try and incorporate books and reading into lots of our activities and I really believe it’s helped turn Jack into a little bookworm already.
Our go-to for toddler books is always The Works.
Pancake Relay Race
Set up a pancake relay race where toddlers have to race with a pancake on a spoon without dropping it. You can even make it more challenging by adding obstacles or turning it into a team competition. It’s a fun way to burn off some energy and enjoy some friendly competition!
Races are a big thing in our house now, Jack must ask for a race 15 times an hour. It’s a great activity for tiring them out before bedtime.
Pancake Pyjama Party
Who says Pancake Day has to end when the sun goes down? Keep the festivities going with a pancake pyjama party! Let your toddlers wear their comfiest pyjamas, dim the lights, and enjoy a pancake feast before bedtime. It’s a cosy and memorable way to end the day!
Bonus: you’ll all be in your PJs and ready for bed nice and early – so one less job to do.
So there you have it, pancake-loving parents! With these fun ideas and activities, you can make this Pancake Day one to remember for your little ones. Get ready to flip, decorate, and indulge in some pancake fun!
Happy flipping!

People Also Ask…
Can 2 year olds eat pancakes?
Pancakes may be introduced as soon as baby is ready to start solids, which is generally around 6 months of age, as long as they do not contain honey. Try to wait until closer to the second birthday to serve sweeteners with pancakes, including honey, maple syrup, powdered sugar, and other forms of sugar.
How do you make Pancake Day fun?
Print photos of ingredients, grab toy food and cut a bunch of ‘pancakes’ out of brown cardboard. Let your little one discover their pancake day role play area and get ready to eat 300x pretend pancakes.
